Some of you have asked, "What's a Chemo Angel?"
Chemo Angels is a national organization of volunteers who are assigned to a person going through cancer treatment. That volunteer agrees to keep in touch with that person either by email, cards, letters, small gifts, etc. The main purpose is to try to put a little sunshine in that person's day while going through some of…

New Year's traditions
If we lived in parts of South America, we would wear brightly colored underpants to ring in the New Year—red if we were looking for love, and yellow for money. Hmm wonder what color symbolizes health. No matter what we wear, though, New Year signifies a new beginning. I just bought a new calendar and I felt really…

This was one of Elizabeth Edward's Favorite Poems - I love the message - HOPE
Hope Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune--without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chillest land, And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in…

Pleomorphic Invasive Lobular Cancer

I was diagnosed with Pleomorphic Invasive Lobular Cancer on 11/01/10, have had a lumpectomy, and am now awaiting the verdict for my treatment, which I should be finding out on January 3, 2011. My attempts at finding out specifics about PILC have not been…

Chemo #2 down, 4 more to go
I had an excellent visit with my Onc today prior to chemo. He couldn't measure the masses. Praise God, the chemo is working & that was after only one treatment. He feels very optimistic about my survival, even though I do have IBC. I told him that God has already healed me of this beast, but he ( the dr) just doesn't know…

OK--this had to be asked--anyone with a New Year's Resolution?
My plan is to lose weight. At my age, I'm really so over being "skinny" I just want to be healthy. So, on Monday (after a good weekend of indulgence!) I'm doing it. I'm a Weight Watchers lifetime member, so I know all about the points, etc. I go to my gym or walk my Vizsla 5x a week. So I can do this. Right? I would like…

Question about deodorant/antiperspirants usage
While recuperating from bilateral mastectomy my surgeon wouldn't let me use anything until 8 weeks following surgery and then it had to be only deodorant (no chromium). Does anyone know if at some point I can or should go back to using antiperspirant and can deodorant be worn while getting radiation? Thanks, Char

Forgot to share the good news!
With all the craziness of the holiday last week, I forgot to share my news. On the 20th I had an appointment with the urologist for a cyscopy because of the trace of blood that has been in my urine for about a year. I was holding my breath. It turns out that I had a kidney stone lodged in my urethra. Because it was in my…

Clinical studies regarding the benefits of Broccoli as an anti-cancer agent
I am always interested in knowledge pertaining to natural foods or herbs that are beneficial in our fight against breast cancer. I've read in books and heard previously, that the cabbage-like vegetables were good for you in their raw form (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage, etc.) So I found a site by the…

I've been gone a few months, as I have been journeying thru my chemo treatments. And now I am VERY happy to say -- my final "big guns" TCH treatment is finished. My Dr thinks it is from Taxotere. She is not sure if she wants me to do anymore chemo. I have had 3 rounds out of 6.She wants to do some kind of test that tells if I am low or high risk.It will take 4 weeks to get it back. If she does have me do chemo she will use a different drug ( said it would be stronger). Has this…

Asking for Your Prayers
Hello, my friends and sisters, early signs are showing that I may have mets to my liver: enlarged liver, liver enzymes that are in the 200s and 300s. I am waiting for my doctors to call back and tell me what is next. Joe just landed in Wisconsin to visit his dad who has been declining, but he has turned around and is…
