Im seeing so many new breast cancer survivors joining this board recently....so i thought it would be fun to do another round of introductions...You dont have to answer anything you dont want to...
What is your name, how did you choose your screen name, how old are you, what state are you from and whatever else you'd like to add!

I will start...My name is Misty. I got my scene name from my middle name being Jo, which everyone calls me Jo Jo or Misty, so no creativity there. Im 42 and i live in Iowa actually on the border of Iowa and nebraska (Most of my treatments are in Omaha)...and yes there is more to Iowa and NE than farms...we do have cities...hehe!

I'm Susan, Rague is my Appaloosa mare (Yes that is her full registered name - Her dam was Red Tomatoe so her breeder named her after Ragu spaghetti sauce but added the e from her dam's 'Tomatoe' [plus have to have at least 5 letters in the registered name LOL]). I'm IBC, I'm 64. I live in western SD on the prairie just ENE of the Black Hills. Married to the same guy (who is retired USN) for 34 years.

Evon and I chose my screen name because I was a boss and my last name used to be Bosserman so combining my first name in a creative and sometimes my employees would call me evolboss.I am from a suburb East of Cleveland Ohio and I was diagnosed with stage 3 IBC Oct. 10th of 2010, so glad I got on here today it is my first time using this site and so far everyone seems so great. Oh yeah and I am 41, great smile Jo Jo.

Hi,

my name is Ayse (pronounced eye-she (as in shed), my origin is turkish but
grew up in germany and came all by my adventurous self to America.

I had a lumpectomy, then chemo and then decided on a mastectomy. I am nearing
the end of my treatments and can't wait!

My favorite season is fall and I love to eat (espcecially different cusines). I read too.. = )

I just recently discovered that I left my heart in NYC and am planning to make my way
back there. I feel like a fish out of water in AZ, a fish out of water with cancer.. a fish
out of water with cancer who's dreaming of NYC!

yep that's me!

and I have 4 grown kids that all surf (we live in Sebastian, Florida) and because I hung out on the beach taking video and pictures of the surfers they gave me the nickname "Mama G". I"m pretty much everybody's other mother around here. and I love it.
I am YUCK 60, but still think I'm 20 in too many ways. BC stole my youth, though. as well as my belief that I was NEVER going to get cancer in my life!!! even though my brother died at 21, my dad at 67, my sister at 58, I was going to beat the odds! BS! Now I'm the uniboober who is trying to make the best of whatever is left of my time on this beautiful earth. I'm a 5th gr science teacher, too. I LOVE LIFE!!! and Kelly Slater...

My name is Sharon. My screen name? I chose my name..LOL. I'll have to think of something more exciting. I was diagnosed on September 1st, 2010, after having my very first mammogram, and I am going in for mastectomy surgery (bilateral) on October 8th. I just turned 42. Just married my high school sweetheart after 30 years of him asking. Between us we have 7 grown kids and two grandbabies! Life is good now, so this Cancer needs to Make Tracks and leave us alone! We live in Georgia!

I live in North Carolina and work(ed) for myself as a residential home improvement contractor. Weird job for a woman, I know. I use to race bicycles before I had to have a total knee replacement last year and the manufacturer of my road bike was LOOK; so hence the screen name lookrider. I am 53, married with two dogs. I was dx this past July with IDC, followed with bilateral mastectomy, axillary node dissection, and now the dreaded tamoxefin.

This actually kind of fun!! My name is April...I was diagnosed on July 15 approx 4 months after my husband got his stem cell transplant!! We live in Orange, Ca and have a 23 year old daughter and a 17 year old son. Looks like I will be having a lumpectomy sometime around Christmas time and am doing the chemo treatments prior to surger. I am on TC and have had 2 of 6 treatments.

I chose my screen name because many of our friends know us as the gadget family because of my husband's home automation business.

Hi all, my name is Jennifer, Jenn to pretty much everyone. I am 39 and was diagnosed in July of this year. I have Stage II IDC. I've had the lumpectomy and am about to have my 3rd chemo treatment with bunches more to come. I chose my screen name ages ago because of my bulldog, Katie. Winsome means: sweetly or innocently charming, winning, engaging. Katie is all those. She's also the smartest dog I have ever known in my life. I keep telling my husband that if she had opposable thumbs she'd be ruling the world by now. LOL

I was born and raised in the Mid-South (Born in Memphis, raised in northern Mississippi). I met my Yankee husband and followed him up here to Indiana. We live in South Eastern Indiana, along the Ohio River about half way between Cincinnati and Louisville.

I have been so grateful for this site and everyone here, as it has been my go-to resource when I have any question or concern. You are all the best!

Blessings,

Jenn

I had A typical dysplasa in 2001 and my cancer grew in spite while taking Tamoxifin and I have tried Arimidex and Femera with bad results so I just started Aromasin so lets pray that I can handle that! Hi, I'm Kris and I live in Texas. I'm currently taking chemo for stage 3 breast cancer. I am a single parent of a very active six year old and we live out here with no family.

Part of my screen name came from writings I use to do when I was younger(butterfly) and (evolving)because I'm forever in a state of change. At least that's what I pray for..

What!! There are cities in Iowa? :)

when I was a kid my dads job transferred us to Indiana. My first day of school there the kids got to ask me questions.... more than one kid asked if we had horses and they were shocked when I told them Id never even been on a horse (I have now lol) and were even more shocked that we had cars. The kids really thought we had no cars and that we rode around on horses. LOL

I am so glad you are there for your wife. I was also triple negative, had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. I grew up in Queens. I still have a brother in Roslyn Heights. I loved spending weekends out there with his family. As a wild young ting in 1970/71 and 72 we had a group of us rent houses in the Hamptons. We had a ball on Tiana beach, with the bands. One of our houses was a big old house right on the water across from the Coast Guard Station. I think there were about 20 of us in that house. It may be a restaurant now, I was trying to find pictures of it. I had cousins in East Islip and spent a lot of time there. Needless to say, I do miss the Island, other than living in Queens, it was my favorite place to be. Where on the Island are you and your wife from?

I am praying for you and your wife. It is great to have such support and you are a special person for being there for her. It is not easy.

Screen name is the same as fisrt name, plus birth year. If you need help with the math I am 57. I have always lived in MA, and am 1/2 way between Boston and Cape Cod. I still work 40+ hours every week. I was dx inflammatory BC one year ago, had a mastectomy 5+ months go.
Chemo sucked, I was allergic and stopped breathing, surgery was as it is, then I got an infection and had to be hospitalized for 2+ weeks. Radiation was okay, although I did get some bad burns.I worked thru my treatments and was oot of work for 3 months, I just had to return to work as I was going stir crazy. In hindsight I should have stayed out. Now I sit w/lymphodema that flares to a very painful level, but I am here and intend to stay!
Best to all! Peace

I'm Roseann. My screen name is my name with my lucky number 4. I was dignosed in Feb/09. I had the mammo early that year because I was a match for my son who needed a kidney transplant. He is 35 and is still waiting because of my diagnosis. A sad time for many reasons. He is very brave and I feel blessed to still have him thanks to dialysis.
My cancer was removed with a partial mastectomy which wasn't a terrible surgery. The only evidence of the surgery is that my right boob is perkier than my left. I could have reconstructive surgery but I'm not motivated to do that. I am married, 59 and will be thrilled to turn 60 in Nov. Cancer has a way of making getting older a welcome thought. I had 33 radiation treatments but opted out of chemo based on my ocotypedx test. I have made some major life style changes and feel great. My cancer was staged 1 which we all know doesn't mean much other that's their best guess right now. I refuse to give up my today stressing about an uncertain future. Isn't it uncertain for everyone?

Oh, I forgot to say that I live in Guilford, CT which is 15 mins East of New Haven.

Our whole state only has a population of less than 813,000. East River does have a few that could qualify as 'cities' but West River our biggest that comes close is Rapid City with just over 62,000. Lots of little towns and 'bumps in the road' though.

For those who don't know SD - it's sort of 2 states within one boundary - East River and West River. The Missouri River cuts through the middle of the state and is the dividing line between Central and Mountain time zones in addition to being the dividing line for East River and West River. There are different laws in some cases between the 2 areas - here in West River we have to have Brand Inspections on our horses but in East River you don't. East River is more like midwest; we're West/'Old West'.

Well, to tell the truth, that is a very complex question. I have been on this Board since November 2008, having been diagnosed with Stage IIA DCIS in February 2008, followed by lumpectomy, chemo (TAC) and 40 radiation treatments. My Board name goes back to when I was a young, somewhat shy adult, commuting about 25 miles one way to work (before the days of cell phones.) My husband bought and installed a CB radio in my car, just in case of emergency, and I listened to it daily while going to and from work. One day a woman who I listened to often (her CB handle was Foxy Lady) happened to drive by me, noticed the CB antaena, and called me on the radio, saying "Hey, lady in the cream colored Thunderbird." Being shocked that she was obviously calling me, I didn't answer, so she called me again, calling me "Creampuff". I answered, and that began a lifelong nickname for me.

I live in Jacksonville, Texas, about 75 miles southeast of Dallas, and am a retired banker from Houston. Another funny thing, we moved to Ruidoso NM after I retired in 2001, and after four years, and being in the same house with my husband 24/7, I decided to find a job to keep me busy. I went to dealer school, and went to work at the local casino as a Blackjack Dealer. That was more fun than any other job I had ever had. In 2008 we moved back to Texas, and I have been retired and fighting cancer ever since. It has been fun reading all of the posts to this thread...keep it up. Hugs, Judy

Great idea JoJo! My name is Michele. I picked my screen name because I was born in Brooklyn and my close friends call me Chele (yes not very creative). I haven't lived in NY since I was a small child. I grew up in MD and currently live in WV (in the panhandle portion tucked in between VA - 15 min. drive, MD - 10 min drive, and PA - 20 min drive). I work in DC. I turned 44 on September 1st. I was married and have a daughter, 21 almost 22 from the marriage that lives on her own and is in her last year of law school. I have a wonderful live-in bf of 13 years and like Carriesoup we are happy with no plans of getting married. Finally, I have a giant stubtail cat that is my love-bug!

Glad to meet all of you!

My nickname is Meena, not sure why i put the 1 after my name. I have been here for a very long time. I am 54 years old, i have 2 children, a son who is 28 years old and a daughter, 20 years old. I am married to my hubby now for 21 years. I was born and live in Philadelphia PA, (GO EAGLES). I have a dog named Lola. I live in a really small, cute row home which is very comfty. I have been fighting breast cancer for over 2 years, and was diagnosed with a reoccurance on June 3. Unfortunately the cancer has spread to my liver and my bones in my spine so I am back on chemo. I am currently on disability from work, hopefully I can go back soon, (but doubtful). I love to go shopping at the mall with my daughter and going out to lunch i love to read, and i love to gamble at the casino and drink margaritas. At least that was my old life, now i basically watch TV, read books and magazines. Due to our financial situation, we have had to cut back. I like to cook, (although I like when other people cook for me!!), and i have discovered how much money we actually wasted, especially by eating out. My hubby has been wonderful and helpful through this, although he does not understand. I have a large extended family who do not help or lend support, so i am basically on my own, that is why i come to this board.

Hi there,

I live in ........ Iowa!!! I am a sign language interpreter in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa metro area(population approx. 150,000) so that is how I came up with my screen name. I have recurrent breast cancer, stage 4 mets to the bone but not to the soft tissue. Lump came back near the mastectomy site 5 years later, made plans for a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation, until the PET scan showed that it had already spread to my right hip and possibly my L2 vertebra. No longer curable but hope to contain it for quite some time. Currently taking Xeloda pills (14 days on, 7 days off), Herceptin and Zometa (bone strengthener) both by IV every three weeks. Diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after my 40th birthday, the second dx was about a month before my 45th birthday which was just a couple of weeks ago.

Hi I'm Wanda. Love Lighthouses so there's my name. Also like the number 7. Not much originality there. I was dx with Stage 3b ductal, had lumpectomy, chemo and rads. Finished rads on Dec.22, 2009. Had 17 lymph nodes removed and 8 were cancerous.
I have lived in MA all my life near the ocean, my real love, other than my family of course. My husband is my rock and my children and grandchildren breathe life into me every day. I feel so blessed to have them. I love to read and oil paint (though not as often as I should) I did enter a painting in the Lilly Oncology on Canvas Exhibit. I can't wait to see the next one. It will start in January.
I am forever grateful for finding my sisters in pink on this site. It has helped me so much.

Hey, I am Rhonda and I live in northeast, Georgia with my 4 children, 22,19, 15 and 13. My screen name comes from the fact I have two standard poodles. I was diagnosed grade 1, stage 2a, Feb 2010, had bilaterial mastectomy, 6 rounds chemo and will have implants (replacement) on Oct 13th. I have been married to my second husband ( the best in the world) 16 years. My oldest daughter will be celebrating her brain surgery date Dec. 2001 - she had began to have seizures in 1999 and she has not had a seizure since Dec 2001, and no problems from the brain surgery. I also love this site. Hopefully this weekend my husband is planning on helping me post my picture. You warriors look GREAT!

I must say that I'm more fearful every year that the cancer will show up again!I am very proud to know all of you brave ladies(and men) who are going thru this fight and you should all be proud of yourselves! I have 1 daughter who is turning 25 tomorrow and recently graduated Grad School with a degree in Interventional School Psychology.
