Post Neck Dissection Tightness - any good ideas?

Hi All,

 

Any suggestions and/or expectations for post neck dissection tightness relief? Any recommendations for topical ointments, accupuncture, cupping, botox, stretches? I had my surgery late 2020, not sure if present tightness is the norm or if this too improves with time.

    I recall my neck felt numb, and almost like my skin had been removed, and a piece of leather sewed in it's place!

    It's gotten much better, over time. It's still numb, but I don't really notice it anymore - unless I think about it. (I'm 2 years, 4 months out of surgery).

    I'm sure some of it, is that I've gotten used to it. 

    The only remedy I used was to keep using the skin lotions recommended by my Oncologist. It's also a great idea to keep your neck stretched.

    Here is a link to a post I started many years ago pertaining to stretching and massaging our necks. I had a Radical Neck Disection followed by Radiation. After I completed my treatments, I noticed my neck got very tight. I spoke to my Radiation Oncologist about it and he sent me to a Cancer Physical Therapist to teach me stretching and massage techniques which I posted in the thread. 

    You can read this thread and it can be a starting point for you but mention your tightness to either your Surgeon or Oncologist because Lymphedema may be part of the cause of your issue.
