Colostomy diet is trial and error

For me, the colostomy diet was lots of trial and error. Of course, immediately after surgery it was low fiber, low residue. Once I was cleared to start adding back more foods, I started adding back slowly to see what worked. Foods that gave me gas were quickly off the list. Timing when I ate my meals was almost as important as what I ate. Big breakfast, medium lunch, smaller dinner worked best for me. How long has your mom had her colostomy? Is it permanent or temporary? Is she currently in chemo or radiation treatment? Those will have an impact on diet and appetite
