Small tumor but lymph nodes positive

Hi everyone. I am a new to this group. In October, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I underwent a lumpectomy in November. My tumor was 1.4 cm. My tiny tumor managed to make its way to 2 lymph nodes. It's ER/PR positive, HER 2 negative, & after having a decent Oncotype score, my oncologist feels that radiation & hormone therapy are the only treatments needed. I also got a second opinion from Sloan Kettering, so I feel confident in their opinions. Everyone I speak to that has gone through breast cancer did not have any spread into the lymph nodes, which has left me feeling that we really can't relate to each other, and honestly has left me feeling alone. Has anyone had a similar diagnosis that could give me some encouragement?

    Hi there,

I'm so sorry to hear of your experience.  I just got diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (Encapsulated) and seeing a breast surgeon soon.  I am really hoping that mine is not also in the lymph nodes but I will not know until I get further tests from the breast surgeon.  Just wanted to let you know that although I am not currently going through the exact same type at least not that I yet know, I can imagine how scary that might feel.  Gentle hugs to you.

    Hi JenMarie

I had stage 3 HER2+ER + with spread to 2 lymph nodes.  Had chemo, which was extended prior to my mastectomy and reconstruction in May 2020 due to COVID.  I had complications and 2 surgeries in June 2020 resulting in the tissue expander removal. Still on Herceptin and Perjetta.  Two more infusions to go.  Started oral chemo-estrogen supressant in Nov 2020.  Most unpleasant.  Like getting hit with menopause like a truck.  If there is anything I can help with, any questions.  Please contact me.  I've been a nurse for 37 years.  Best of luck to you !!

    I’m with you

    Hi Jen,

i have the exact same as you. Same tumor size, lymph node involvement ER/PR positive, Her2 negative. Today I had my first chemo treatment. My team has decided to begin by attempting to shrink my tumors (mainly because my lymph node is near my chest wall). Nineteen more weeks to go, and then we will see what comes next. if you ever want to reach out, please feel free. it sounds like we are in a similar situation.
