I need to be talked off the ledge....

A week and a half ago I was feeling some discomfort in the implant on the same side as I had initially had breast cancer.  I was trying to 'adjust' the implant, and right under the surgical scar from my mastectomy (10 years ago) I felt a pea-sized lump.  Not really hard, but not soft either.  I scheduled an appointment with my oncologist.  She said she wasn't super worried about it.  She has ordered an ultrasound ASAP, which is scheduled for tomorrow.  I thought this is likely scar tissue, but it feels like a lump, not an undefined lump of scar tissue, if you know what I mean.  I was told I would have the results of the ultrasound before I leave the clinic tomorrow, but I am getting increasingly nervous.  It somehow appears to me that 10 years is when recurrences occur.  I have had no issues since I discontinued Tamoxifen 6 years ago, and all my check-ups have been A-okay, but I have that niggling feeling that I had before my diagnosis 10 years ago.  Has anyone else had something like this?

    Thinking of you

I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and hoping for the best news today. I am so new in this world, there's not a lot else I can offer, but thought it might help a tiny bit to know thoughts and prayers are coming your way today.

    Hope

Chickadee, I know how frightening finding something strange, new is when you thought your were done. I want you to have hope. Things have really changed in the 10 years. I have been on the same boat as you except mine was a 5 year difference. I have had metastases breast cancer on my liver for 7 years now. I was in a trail study for a new med for metastasized breast cancer that became PiqRay. During the trial I had kidney issues, but it is a good drug.I lasted for 5 years on it.

I will be praying for you. Keep your chin up. Keep posting.

    Any news?

Saw this too late to try to talk you off the ledge, but I bet you did a good job of doing that for yourself.

Let us know when you know anything. We worry. You know that:)

    xoxo, Victoria

    Yay!

I had the ultrasound and got an 'all clear'.  I feel very confident about the results because the radiologist came in and re-did the ultrasound after the technician took her the scan to review.  I could tell she was determined to make certain there was nothing to worry about.  She also said that she would be happy to do an MRI if I was still not comfortable, but she couldn't see any abnormal tissue at all.  She did think, perhaps what I and my oncologist were feeling could be a wrinkle in the implant.  That makes some sense since I have discomfort with the implant on that side pretty regularly.

Thanks to you all for the well wishes and encouraging words.  I knew I could count on you!
