Unknown source

My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that has mastised to the liver, lymph nodes and bones. After all the tests they still are not sure of the source. Even the PET scan has not dominately showed the source...has anyone else have this diagnoses. Problem is his liver is "infiltrated" with small cell cancer and is compramised in function. Had first round of chemo.,day 3 is going well as he has not gotten sicker from it. Told he is terminal and the treatment is only to hopefully improve his quality of life.
