Heart Surgeon with prostate cancer surviving for many years

A friend of mine has survived for 25 years with three types of cancer including prostate cancer. He is a 98-year-old former heart surgeon who is a member of his local Cancer Connection to give younger people, who think cancer means a death sentence, hope that they can live a long time. He describes what it was like to find out he had prostate cancer and what he and his wife did about it. His name is Dr. Tito Gambarini and he is from Argentina and lost his wife to ovarion cancer.     Living with prostate cancer

    Hi there,

    It is not unusual to live with prostate cancer for many years unless you have very aggressive advanced disease.
    Even men with stage IV disease and many metastases may live for several years or more with therapy, it is not like some other cancers where the time from diagnosis to death may be measured in months
    It is a truism to say that men with prostate cancer die with the disease rather than of it.

    You do? I guess some people do not have better things to do!

    I really want to share his story because he goes to local cancer groups to bring people hope, he is inspring for the local community - where I am from. I thought maybe other people would find inspiration from him as well.
