Metastic breast cancer

August 24, 2018 I went to the ER because I had such severe back and hip pain. Walked out of the ER that day with a diagnosis of stage IV metastic breast cancer. In shock, scared, now what? Ended up having stabilization surgery to my left humorous and my left femur. Cancer had damaged the bones to the point that they were ready to break. Endured those 2 major surgeries. I was in the hospital for 2.5 weeks and then 3 weeks in a  rehab facility until I was finally able to make it back home. Forced to stop working and I  go on full disability. My life wasn't what I had and it was so incredibly hard to accept any of this. 

Move ahead to current day. Yesterday I was told I will now be losing the breast. The tumor has started growing again. After going through 6 months of chemo, I at least had 6 months of decent scans. I knew the tumor was changing and growing. I could feel it. Currently on oral therapy.

I just don't know if I have the strength to go through more painful surgeries. This has been so hard. My family and friends are there for me, and have helped me with every step I've taken. Going to appointments with me,  helping me around my house when I need help.  I'm single living on my own and have 2  cats who always seem to know when I need a purr or a kitty hug. Yes, crazy cat lady lol.

I'll keep fighting, that is just my nature. It takes a lot for me to back down and say no more.

    Hello Anita,

    I'm gald you are reaching out to this site for support. What you are going through is really tough, and unfair. For what it's worth, I believe your breast surgery will be far less painful that the bone stabilization surgery you've endured. I recently injured my knee and had arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus. I had a double mastectomy a couple of years ago. The knee problem has been more difficult and painful than the breast surgery.

    I have to bear weight on my knees when walking, not so with breasts. Healing from a mastectomy just felt strange for a while, mostly from scar tissue forming. I don't notice it at all anymore. You can do it - you're a strong survivor!

    It must have been so traumatic to get such a diagnosis!!! But you are strong and we will all think good thoughts and send out prayers!  You have great support so that's awesome!! Family and good friends make life challenges so much easier to bear!! Feel free to say whatever you want n share your fears and trou here. There are many wonderful supportive people here going through many similar experiences and are always ready to share with you. God bless you! He will carry you through
