Hi all,

my dads biopsy came back positive for cancer cells (under arm lymph nodes) and originally it was thought to be breast cancer but even after a pet scan mri and ct scan , they can’t find a tumor. He has had past medical issues and was told he has a chance of stomach and esoohageal cancer so now I am very worried it’s one of those. I’ve read on google that pet scans can miss small tumors and can’t get it out of my head that he has one of those and I might lose him. They have sent the biopsy for further testing and waiting is so hard. Not sure how to battle the anxiety.

Don't live life on what ifs.

It only takes one cell to cause havoc in our lives.  Unfortuanatly a lot of the time thoe tiny cells cannot be found until they grow.  Don't waste a day, you don't know the outcome.  Enjoy the time you have.  And you dont know, you might have many many more years with your dad.

    Deal with only the facts

We can create a lot of unnecessary anxiety by imagining the worst. I did that to myself when I was first diagnosed. My nurse navigator told me to only think about the facts and not create monsters in my head that didn't exist. It was great advice.

Keep in mind that cancer treatments have greatly improved over the last ten years. Try to enjoy the beautiful moments of each day. I wish you a blessed Christmas.

    Melanoma

Has your Dad had an all over exam by a dermatologist?  Melanoma and a few other cancers show up in the lymph.
