It's been quite awhile since I checked in. I had a nephrectomy for rcc over seven years ago. A month or so ago, I was feeling fatigued and had the Dr order blood work which showed my homoglobin down at 8, so she ordered a CT scan as well as upper and lower GI checks. The CT scan came back showing possibly some masses in the lymph nodes in the abdomen (on the other side fro the original surgery). Biopsy was done last week and the results came through a couple of hours ago that the RCC is back. Waiting to hear from urologist and oncology now.

That's awful. It must be an absolute shock. Please be good to yourself tonight - then tomorrow, you can take it on. You got through once before, you absolutely can do it again.
Sending you prayers and positive thoughts. We're here for you - you've got this.

Sorry
So sorry you are having to go through this again. I cannot imagine. Hope you and your doctors come up with great plan of attack. What was the original size and grade and type? was it a full or partial nephrectomy?

Ed,
Obviously a difficult time for you. Can you share any latest developments with us? I'm four years out but still apprehensive.

This is a tough one to hear. I'm sure your oncologist will develop a good plan for you. Until that happens, educate yourself so you are part of the process to develop the plan. I'm looking forward to hearing good results as you move forward.

I am back
Sorry that I haven't been on for a couple of months. I think I was in denial.
Anyways, my CT scan a week ago showed some growth from from the July scan. As a result I will be starting Votrient sometime tihis week. I'm waiting for the pharmacist to look over the most recent blood work and EKG. From what I've read, I'm not particularly looking forward to the likely side effects. But it sounds like that's in store for me for awhile.
I''l be on the forum more often again and let you know how things go.

Thanks for the link
Eug91,
Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. This morning I took my first dose. I think it'll take at least a few days to see if I feel any different.

Sorry to hear...
This is sobering. Especially for me after receiving my NED this past Friday. Have courage and strength. You'll pull through. A reminder that we all need to be vigilant.
