Metformin

Hi everybody,
As I am high end prediabetic due to the Firmagon I have managed to get Dr Pooh to put me on metformin with a three month supply of two times 850mg per day to start.
I tried the full strength the first day and had a nasty experience so I did a fortnight on half tablets.
I have now stepped up to the full monty as they say and after a few days it is not half bad.
No intestinal problems apart from a lot of fragrant farting.
Maybe it is doing any last residual cancer cells in, or maybe not.
Guinea pig me is, try give it, send darkside cancer my precious.
:-)
Here is a reference for those that like that sort of thing.

Very interesting research results Georges, thank you for posting and best of luck.  I imagine a urologist would be highly unlikely to perscribe Metformin unless one were pre-diabetic.

Georges,

With the breakdown of CSN servers we have lost our entries regarding add-ons posted in the thread of xNTP. Metformin is one of the drugs in the arsenal used by medical oncologists in ADT administration. It interacts with other medications so that you need to be vigilant with periodical liver tests.

You can check details of this drug's action against cancer in the several forums of CSN. You get a list of symptoms and find the many stories and experiences of the patients who took it.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Vasco,

I have my eye on liver toxicity and I intend to ask Dr Pooh for regular checkups on that.
The toxicity of metformin is limited, actually it barely seems to be metabolised with 90% being recovered unchanged from the urine and no known metabolites in man.

Hi everybody,

I believe metformin may be particularly helpful in my case based on the following paper allowing for the fact that the sample sizes for the metformin and diabetic patients are small which does undermine the statistics a bit but medical papers are often a bit ropey! :-(
