I was diagnosed with Anal Adeno Carcinoma in March 2018. I'm currently receiving chemo (using Xeloda) and radiation treatment at St. Joe in Brighton (MI), which is using their brand new (one month ago) radiation contraption. I would like to compare notes with either someone who has or had the same or similar diagosis or knows of a family member or friend who falls into that category as well. I'm very receptive to providing my phone number, because while this forum is great for reaching out to the masses, and good one-on-one phone conversation with an experienced member with this situation would be preferred.

I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but glad you have found this site.  My knowledge of anal adenocarcinoma is very limited, as my anal cancer was squamous cell, which is the most common type.  Perhaps there is a member on this site who has the same type of cancer cells as you who can provide you with some information.  Regardless, you will get support here, so let us know how your treatment is going.  I'm not sure how it will compare to treatment for the type of anal cancer I had, but most people find ways to manage the side effects, and I hope that will be the case for you.  Radiation, as you know, can cause burns, diarrhea, and other issues.  Let us know how we can help you with what you might experience.  I wish you all the best.

    In addition....

This forum is very open to anything you have to say. (When one is bending over an exam table with their naked rump waving around in the air while the radiation oncologist pokes around, pointing out the various injuries he sees to his nurse and to a student, it become pointless to retain any shyness.) You can't surprise us! And you will always get polite, empathetic replies.
