Hello All! I'm lurking around the site daily still but haven't posted in a while. I finished the first round of chemo, which was 3 once a week infusions of carbo/taxol. I did 5 and a half weeks of full abdominal radiation, and 3 brachy treatments. I asked my doctor for a PET/CT Scan, because the cancer I have tends to be platinum resistant. I didn't want to go through more chemo that wasn't working, especially since there are options available for other things. Just so y'all don't have to look back, I will remind you that I have Stage IV Grade 3 with a mixed histology containing serous and clear cells. I also had a plaque-like region of the cancer behind my bladder, which did have muscular invasion. Anyway, I wanted to share the results of my scan. My doctor was fumbling with the words (probably because none of us expected it). He then just blurted out, " I'm going to just let you read it for yourself".  It read No Evidence of Disease!!!! Wooooohoooo!!!  Of course we are going to finish the second round of chemo, because there could be cells too small for the scans to identify, but my counts were too low last week. I remember when I was first diagnosed. I read the posts here for understanding and support and hope. It is my goal with this post, to give others some hope....that the tough treatments are worth it....that they can work! Now, I realize that the rates of recurrence are high in the first 2 years, so I remain vigilant about the upcoming appointments and my diet/exercise/supplements. Thanks again to all who have been on the site, helping us all through this difficult time. Best wishes for anyone just joining. This truly is an amazing site with some even more incredible people!

May God Bless You All,

Stacey

what wonderful, incredible news. I have tears in my eyes picturing you reading that report in your doctor's office. It must have been like 20 years of Christmas rolled into one (or whatever special holiday you observe).  I wish you many, many more such celebrations.

BTW, you obviously don't need hair to be beautiful.

Oh Connie! Thank you for sharing in my excitement AND the kind words! It really was like a Gimongous Christmas Present. I've been thanking God EVERY time I think about it. I've said all along that He has the final say, despite the characteristics of the cancer and rates of recurrence. I may never understand His infinite kind and ways with my finite mind...but there have been many blessings come out of the whole situation. Just another resource, which I almost turned my nose up to because it was written by a woman/nurse who had breast cancer. Anyway, it's a book called The Silver Lining. I read it a little bit every day when I was waiting for my radiation. I had to learn to look at times, but they truly are always there ;)

Thanks again and best wishes to you

Thanks Susie2! I definitely feel better about the future chemo treatments. I was so afraid we might learn that it was platinum resistant or just stubborn. My family and friends have been amazing. Y'all here have saved my sanity on many occasions. So....WE earned it ;)

I wish you all the best too!

You said it! One at a time, and I am grateful for this one...but as much as I try, I am guarded. Just going to try to soak this one up and stay in the moment as often as possible....THAT'S the plan ;)

Thanks for sharing in my excitement too!

Best wishes!

Thanks Tamlen! It's definitely been a journey of discovery, perseverance and experiences I'm glad I don't have to repeat. My doctor/surgeon also disclosed something else that day. He said he operated on another woman who was taking Suboxone. He said he had to give her 15X the normal amount of pain meds to get her pain tolerable. I wish I wasn't the 1st, but I am SO GLAD that nobody else in his practice and at that hospital will ever have to go through the horror of an unmedicated recovery. God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers, and I know we are among those!

Best wishes to you;)

It is amazing to see so many of y'all happy with me! Thank you for taking the time to say so ;)

I'm a horse lover too. I started working on a farm when I was 9, which led to becoming a Vet Tech and managing many barns. I still have hopes of loving a horse of my own one day...until then, I will continue to get things nailed down right, so I can be sure to do everything well.

Thanks again and I wish you the best always

Hey Kaleena! I'm so grateful to be able to spread some joy and hope with y'all, especially after everything y'all have done for me...much of which I have only touched on in my posts and responses. I read a lot here. Keep up with folks, and glean so much from the shared experiences, thoughts, feelings, and new found resources. Most of all, it's the way y'all rally around those who need it. If you're new, shy, or just curious...These women are amazing!

Thanks for all you contribute too ;)

May you always be blessed!

Yippee Skippee Stacey! So happy to hear this news. I'm sure it will help you get through the rest of your chemo. And, I agree with Connie - you are beautiful!

Please don't be a stranger. Come back and let us know how you are doing.

Love and Hugs,

Cindi

Oh Cindi! I'm so glad to hear from you too! I imagine you bouncing around while writing this;) I do think it will make this last, hard puch a bit easier in a way that makes sense to US.  Thank you for saying I look beautiful. I wish I felt like it; however, I struggled with self acceptance even when I had long, curly hair. I didn't get my senior pictures taken, because I thought I was ugly, yet I was voted the homecoming queen. I'm learning so much as I get older and through this process. Maybe I will learn to believe some nice things that are said and how to better take a compliment as well!

I definitely won't be a stranger. I hope to be like you and several other women here who always seem to know just what to say to strengthen, comfort, celebrate, commiserate, educate, and whatever else needs to be said for the benefit of us ALL.

Thanks for joining in celebration with me right now!

May you have many blessings always!

Congratulations on your fantastic news! Isn't our God glorious?  It takes on a whole new meaning of Him referencing Himself as the Great Physician. So grateful He heard the many prayers and answered them in your favor.

Rejoicing with you!

Charissa! Your response has me in tears, as it did the 1st time I read it and as I read it to my family. You said it so eloquently! Thank you for helping me KEEP things in perspective, and I hope I will continue to. I can pull up this thread when I need to get grateful. Thank you again for being a part of my journey.

May you always be blessed!

I'm doing the Happy Dance with you!!! And, you're right! I knew God was still in the miracle making business, but I didn't think they were for me. I've seen so many miracles in people's lives having been in Recovery since1999 (not that I stayed sober since day one;) I have even seen unexplained phenomena in my life. Now I can say for sure that I have experienced a miracle. It HAS to be Him! Thank you for rejoicing with me and for pointing out what I see now to be the obvious....we are all miracles!

I hope your life remains full of blessings!

Hey Betty! That's exactly what I was thinking too! When I was first diagnosed and through the treatments, I scoured the pages here, looking for outcomes and experiences related to the cancer. Every post I read helped me, but the ones that gave news like this kept me afloat right when I was going down with the depression and thoughts of giving up. I hope I have many more years and positive reports to speak of too....but right now, in this moment, I am SO Grateful for this experience! I'm glad you're a part of it ;)

I hope you have many blessings on the way as well!
