One month after surgery and now it looks like I have a urethral stricture ,going into the doctor's tomorrow to see what he can do ugh I don't know how much more I can take

Hoping he can repair in office be even if so I'm sure we'll have to have a catheter for a few days ugh

Anyone else develop a stricture after the catheter removal? I believe that this was caused by the catheter,

Thanks again

So sorry to hear this. I haven't had any experience with this but I hope the solution is quick and easy...and painless.

Wishing you the best

I have a stricture. There are several treatment options. Your doctor may suggest dilation or urethrotomy. Dilation is often out-patient while urethrotomy may require 1 to 2 nights in hospital. I've had both treatments. Beyond mild discomfort (cath), neither was especially tough. Dilation doesn't require cutting so that was my first choice but it really depends on your individual circumstances. Strictures can often be "managed" so I wouldn't stress out over it. Successful dilations or urethrotomies can hold for years and you can re-do the procedure later if it goes well. In the interest of full disclosure, neither treatment is curative. The curative treatment is urethroplasty but that's a whole other story in terms of surgical complexity and recovery. One final word of advice: Strictures increase susceptibility to UTIs. I tend to get a run of UTIs about every 18 months. One prescription of antibiotics and I'm good to go. Hang in there and good luck.

Thanks, Trebor in either case did you have to have a catheter put in after the treatment?

I had to do intermittent self-catheterization, which is easier than it looks or sounds. It takes about 30 seconds a procedure. I also had a cath for a few hours after the dilation and a cath for one night after the urethrotomy. It's all manageable.

I had the dilation procedure done and I have to do a self cath but it only the tip fortunately it's not any further than the tip, so only have  to go in a couple inches twice a day for a month then once a day for a month and then once every other day for a month ugh but I guess it's better than scarring returning
