It's been a long time.. 5 years clear!

I am posting this to hopefully give hope. Its been a long time since I have been on this site.

 

On 9/20/12 (in the middle of a long divorce) I heard those words, you have ovarian cancer. To be more specific my diagnosis was Stage 3b Low Grade Papillary Serous Stromal Cell Ovarian Cancer. (I call it my big girl word). On 3/20/13 I was told I was clear. I was also told I have a 98% chance of return 10 to 15 years from diagnosis. Now, I have had no recurrence and I consider this a blessing. I am living life as each day being a gift.

 

When I was diagnosed, I had 1 beautiful Grandson who I adored! Since diagnosis, I now have 5 beautiful grandson.. yes, all boys! The divorce was complete 2 years after diagnosis. I am now living on my own and completing my bucket list! Dating? No. I tried that however, as soon as someone learns that I am a survivor they run! I look at this as a good thing, if they are not able to be strong enough during the good times, they won't be there during the bad times.

 

I still do go for tests, blood draws and see my oncologist every 3 monts. But, its precaution to be able to catch it when it does come back. I know that when it returns, for me, there is no more treatment. When this does return, there is no treatments that will work. But, I don't look at this as a death sentence, THIS is a LIFE sentence and am living my life and completing that bucket list of things I've always wanted to do but never had the time.
