At the urging of my daughter, I attended a “Look Good Feel Better” class.  I appreciate that there was a lovely young hairdresser volunteering to teach us about how to apply make-up. However, I was shocked by what was in the free cosmetic bag! The products were filled with carcinogens!  I have to say that I am so disappointed in the American Cancer Society for not using the classes to teach women with cancer about the cancer causing ingredients in the products that only women use!  I have to say I am shocked and I would never put those products on my skin while trying to beat cancer!

Apparently, women have been complaining about this for years and there are many articles about this going back years!

It would be just as easy to solicit free makeup from safer products!  I feel that women need to stand up and say NO to these corporations that are using toxic chemicals in products that women use!

    Hello HapB,

sorry to hear your Look Good Feel Better class was a disappointment to you! Hopefully you received a wig or learned some basic info there. I will address your concerns to the American Cancer Society contact person that I know.

    Hugs and Prayer to you!

It really isn’t about me and my disappointment. They are distributing products that are carinogenic!  it is 2017 and a quick google search shows that this has been publically called to their attention for YEARS!  If you go on the Environmental Working Group website, they have an app that rates the safety of products. All of the products FAILED......meaning they contain multiple carinogens. There is no excuse for that coming from American Cancer Society. BReast cancer is on the rise and we know that carcinogens are the main cause of cancer. our skin is the largest organ in our body and what we put on our skin goes into the blood stream!  Women need to speak up and the aMerican Cancer Society should be trying to PREVENT cancer by educating women to be good consumers.

    Thanks

Thanks HapB for sharing the information about make-up. I use bare minerals however, I have not done research about it. I will definitely do so. Hope there's something I can use for dark circles and a glow complexion.

Thanks Bee. i am certainly not the first person to be concerned about this. I did a google search and there have been articles in the NY papers, Huffington Post, and lots more going back YEARS. Crazy!
