Lung Nodules on PET Scan

I have been reading these blogs since I was diagnosed with NPC stage III (t3N2) in Feb. But this is the first time I am posting on this forum. Your stories have greatly helped me cope with the stress and harshness of the treatment. So I want to thank each one of you for sharing your experience.

I finished all the treatments in June. MRI scan in July and September were clear. I have fully recovered from the harshness of the treatment and am able to taste and eat all kinds of food. i had also started to gain back my weight. However, a whole body PET scsn a few days ago showed three hot spots in left lung. The size was 3-4mm and SUV 2.8-3.5. The doctors suspect it to be Metastasis but are not completely sure. I may have to wait for a few weeks to see if these nodules change. Anyone here having an idea

    Lung Nodules

    My husband had laryngeal cancer and then a second primary at the cervical of his esophagus.  After all treatments and surgery he had a follow up PET/CT scan and nodules were found in his right lung plus the tumor was back at the cervical of his esophagus.  They didn't want to do a biopsy on the lung nodules because they were so small, but our head and neck specialist wanted it done asap.  We were told going in that his lung might collapse, which it did, but they were able to reinflate it without any problems and a 3 day stay in the hospital.  Our results weren't good because it was cancer.  At this time my husband elected to do nothing more, he was tired after all the chemo, radiation and surgery and actually the only thing offered to him was chemo and we were told up front that it would only prolong and possibly hasten his time.

    Now during a CT with contrast on my heart, they found a 3-4cm nodule in my right lung and after speaking with the Pulmonary specialist, we are going to follow up with a CT scan in 6 months to see if it has grown.  But I was told if I started having problems to return asap.   Yes I am nervous about it but more nervous about the 2 large nodules and several small ones found in my thyroid and am waiting for the results of a needle biopsy.

    I would get a second opinion.  I did when my family doctor and radiologist told me there was no concern about the lung nodule.  I also did when the radiologist told me there was no concern about something that showed up on my mammogram and ended up having a biopsy which thankfully was nothing to worry about.  Now the radiologist did recommend that I have a needle biopsy done on my thyroid and that scares me even more.

    There is a saying that it is not cancer until they say it is.  I know that it is hard to wait from being with my husband every step of the way and now my problems which I am doing alone.

    My husband died recently from an undiagnosed rare cancer, so I,too, am going through my head an neck mess alone. It is very hard, but I'll be here if you need to talk.

    spots in lung

    husband had spots in lung with his recurrence of primary tumor.  They offered him chemo once every 3 weeks "for as long as it was working".  18 months later he was in remission.  Still has a spot in his left lung.  It is showing no change in scans.  So, "spots" can mean a lot of different things.  Hoping you get good news soon!!

    Thanks for your response. Can you provide some more details please? Was the primary tumor nasopharyngeal Carcinoma and was it EBV positive? I am also taking chemo for the last two months and am scheduled for a rescan next week. I would appreciate if you could share some more information regarding your husband. Wishing him a long and healthy life ahead.
