Liver cancer pain

I was diagnosed 10/15 Have had a resection. Have had two other small tumors discovered, one agin in the liver and another in a lympth node. I do not qualify for a transplant. My ongoing problem is pain management. It seems in the current political evinonment this is a touchy issue but for those like me it is a horrible thing. Is this a common problem for other pain sufferers?

    Al Martin when they did the resection what were the sizes of your tumor or tumors? My husband has 2 and Im hoping they can shrink and do that or what about the wedging do you anything abou that?

    if you request palliative

    if you request palliative care nurse they will stop hassling you when you need pain meds at least that is my husbands experience

    Liver cancer pain

    I have been with cancer of the liver since 2002. I have some pain sometimes, but I just hold on because it doesn't last very long. I was on one medication that really made me hurt and no pain medication was prescribed bcz it's the liver and pain meds would make the liver work harder. I am determined to live through this and die of a non painful cause. You can request pain management. I refuse pain management bcz 1. I'm not in that much pain, 2. My life is compromised enough by cancer and I am not foregoing my driving privileges,and 3. Too early of pain management shortens a liver cancer patients life.

     

    If I were in a lot of constant pain that I could honestly rate a seven to ten, I would have to go on pain management, but I don't have the constant very painful cramping of the liver, for which I am very lucky. I've been there, though, when the pain is so bad it cramps muscles all the way down to your toes. It was only sometimes and didn't last forever, that drug trial finally ended and the doctors cleaned the drug out of my system using Harvony, which we were hoping would have a great effect on liver cancer and doesn't. It's spectacular on liver disease, though. Lucky for us they are still researching liver disease and specifically liver cancer. Funny how the liver is so resilient and yet so delicate.
