Adriamycin and Cytoxan Side Effects

I am 43 years old and have had 3 of my 4 AC treatments. I'm concerned about chest pain/breathing difficulty and headaches that I'm experiencing. My echocardiogram before the first treatment was fine. Since starting treatment, I have had some difficulty taking deep breaths. I wouldn't really say I'm doing anything strenuous when this happens...get dressed and just walking around can do it. It feels kind of like I'm coming down with bronchitis when it happens. I'm wondering if I need to be concerned about heart damage. I mentioned the chest pain a few times during treatment, but no one at the cancer center seemed concerned. I'm also having a lot of severe migraines. I'm prone to migraines anyway, but they had finally let up some when I cut gluten and dairy from my diet about 6 months ago. Now the migraines are back and almost daily. I mentioned this to the nurses also, but didn't really get an answer. I'm taking Zofran for nausea for 3 days after chemo, but the headaches are continuing even after I stop taking the Zofran. I didn't see headaches listed as a side effect of Adriamycin or Cytoxan. Anyone else have this issue?

    AC combo

    Hi Egankeevan

I had AC nine years ago during my first bout with breast cancer. I did have the headaches but that was usually the day after infusion. I also had horrible nausea that Zofran didn't help. Did you check the side effects of Zofran? Are you receiving steroids with the AC treatments? The headaches could be a  form of  a withdrawl symptom from the steroids. You shouldn't have to suffer, chemo is bad enough. Can you call your oncologist and tell them what you are experiencing. I do hope that you find some relief soon. Love Surf

    prescription meds and otc meds

I had all this wth mine.  some of it is the usual se of chemo.   water water water   Also if you are taking a script med and an over the counter pain releiver shortly 2 to 4 hours after you can get what the call rebound headaches.  ouch.   ie:  hydrocodone and tylenol     talk to your onc about med side effects.

I hope you find some relief.

    Hugs,
