Oncocytoma with necrosis??

mvalkosky97 Member Posts: 14

Our docs have been back and forth for 3 weeks now with diagnosis, it has been sent out to the Mayo and various other places who "are scratching their heads". This morning we got a call to celebrate, said that it's an oncocytoma and referred us to a surgeon at UPMC shadyside in Pittsburgh. When they did his biopsy they told us hey had a hard time because it's necrotic and it was falling apart while trying to take pieces. Everything I read online said necrosis does not happen in oncocytomas and if it does it's very minimal and still very rare. I feel like we got an all clear. Now I am not so sure? we see the new doc tomorrow. I would appreciate any insight on this subject. Thank you all for the support.
