    Nausea

I am on chemcycle #4 with oxaliplatin and Xeloda.  Had terrible nausea with the first two cycles.  On cycle #2 they added IV Emend, but this still wore off after the first couple of days.  On cycle #3 they continued the Emend, but  added IV Aloxi and had me  continue to take Decadron steroid tablets for a couple days after the infusion.  This combo has lowered the nausea ti a much more manageable level.  The effect of the anti-nausea drugs start to wear off a little by days 5 & 6.  I definitely take Zofran automatically before my main AM and PM meals (that's when I have to be able to take my Xeloda tablets) until I feel the nausea is really under control.  Many of these drugs can be very constipating, so it's important to maintain hydration and keep something like Colace handy.
