few small scattered lung nodules on ct. Help!

in Colorectal Cancer #1

im a 28 year old female recently diagnosed with stage 3 upper/middle rectal cancer. On staging ct everything came back normal but a nodule on my lungs 4mm and 2 other ones 3mm. Doctor said that it was probably nothing a lot of things in the air give us them, and to follow up in 6 months with cT. I completed chemo and radition for the rec cancer and responsed extremely well and am scheduled for surgery 07/17/17. But I cannot stop worrying about these nodules. I read that rectal usually goes to lungs first? Also I am lynch negative and suffered from luekiemia  when i 5 and have been in remission up until the cancer. Nred support from others and knowledge on whether this is most likely biegn or not. Persnal experience, etc. Thank you all for taking the time to read all this if you did, I truly appreciate it.

    I am sorry that you have to be here but I am sure you will get great information from others regarding the nodules. My husband is 47 with stage 3 rectal cancer.  Completed chemo and radiation, had surgery and is now doing his "mop up" chemo.  He also was negative for Lynch Syndrome.  Although on his scans everything else such as lungs and liver looked fine, in the back of my mind I am just waiting for it to pop up down the road. 

    You sound like a strong woman having dealt with the luekiemia as a little one.  Continue to stay strong.

    Welcome and I'm sorry you're here. But you've come to the right place. I wish I knew about this as soon as I got my diagnosis but it was much later.

    I'll tell you a bit about my situation in the hope that it's helpful in some way. I had stage 3 colon/rectal cancer at the beginning. I've been told either but mostly colon so I call it that. Anyway, about a year later they saw something in a scan. Three 'somethings' in my left lung. It's turned out that one is not considered to be cancerous, but the other two are. They sat and did nothing for a long time and then one started grwoing rather rapidly. As of my last CT scan- I have another one coming up in a couple of weeks- the one still had done nothing and the other is still growing. I am on chemo right now and I know soon if it's helping.

    I was also told that if colon cancer metastisizes it usually gos to the liver and/or lungs and it usually goes to the liver first, rather than the lungs. For a long time after they found the things in my lung I was convinced they were just scarring because I'd had a blood clot in that lung and they'd been sticking tubes in it to clean it out and things like that. I scar badly so I thought it was internal scars.

    Okay, so now I'm thinking about what I just yped and realizing that its not helpful in any way. I guess it just shows the confusion of cancer and how there seems to be no way to say what path it will follow or how it will respond to things or what's going to happen. I'm sorry. The doctors aren't likely to be able to say with any surety what will happen, either.

    What I find interesting about my two mets is that one is growing and the other is not. Kind of blows any theories out of the water as far as what can cause it or make it start growing. They're pretty close together. Why is one just sitting there?

    Well I hope someone can chime in and be of some help because all I did was muddy the waters. I hope your treatments will continue to be successful.
