in Breast Cancer #1

Could some of you weigh in on Tomoxafin?  I will finish radiation in about two weeks and my next step is supposed to be Tomoxafin.  For my paricular genetic profile Tomoxafin does not statistically reduce my chance of recurrance/new breast cancer by much, but I am 100% ER/PR+ and my MO does want me to take it.  An AI with fewer side effects is not possible because I am pre-menapausal.

    Mes, Tamoxifen has its own devils.  You should check constantly with your ob/gyn doctor.  My MO tried to make me use it but I said,since I have a uterus, I want him to write a letter to my gynecologist and ask for a histerectomy.  Tamoxifen can induce uterine cancer in some patients.  Whom? God really knows.  My MO said he only had one case of uterine cancer in his practice and I said I don't want to be the other.  

    It may depend on your age, your intentions of having children (and other factors that I do not know) if you have a histerectomy.  I was on arimidex and I was changed to femara because my cancer antigens were rising instead of going down.  I hope they go down with femara (letrozole).  The AIs do their jobs.  They are efficient in treating breast cancer.  As all drugs for cancer , they have side effects.  So check with your MO and report to him as soon as you develop some severe side effect.

    I am 50 and finished having my children.  I have honestly considered removing my overies and not taking any medication, but I am not sure how much benifit that would be.  I am peri-menapause, already haveing abnormal cycles and hot flashes.  I think that it would just speed up menopause (my gyn tells me that she believes that I will be in menopause within a year).
