Reflection on the year.

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

One year ago this week, I was in the doctors office getting a biopsy.  I cant remember the day but it wasnt long after my biopsy, maybe even a few days, that I got a phone call telling me I had cancer and that I needed to get into see the doctor as soon as possible.  I didnt want to have to tell my boss yet, so i even tried to tell the nurse on the phone that I couldnt go to the appointment they already scedualed for me because it was during work.  They did work with me but I could tell they didnt want to.  Wow what a crazy week that was.  I cant believe its been a year.  I was sitting out side a while ago and just feeling greatful I didnt have to do that this year.  I missed so much good weather because i was recovering from surgery and doing chemo.  I remember My hospital room was small and my window was behind me so I had to ask my sister to take a picture of the outside so I could at least see it. Today its a bueatiful 60 degree sunny day that I have enjoyed.

    Cancer does give us a new outlook on life.  I learned to take the time to smell the roses and the other beautiful things in this world.  Enjoy

    Congratulations- I didn't realize our timelines were so similar.  I am celebrating my 1 year on the 4th from diagnosis.  I can't believe it's been a year.  Today I drove alone for the 1st time and did some shopping and lunch with a friend.  It was scary but exciting at the same time.  I also have been reflecting about all the things that have changed and really continuing to be grateful for the many blessings of each day.  I'm thankful to see another Spring and witness all the new life and new growth everywhere.  Blessings to all of you no matter where you are in your journey.   (((HUGS)))

    Another year

    Congrats!  I celebrated a year since my surgery March 17. It's easy to remember St Patrick's Day. BTW, that's the day in 1985 that I met my husband. I'm in Dallas visiting my BFF who was there last year when I lost my hair. Let's look forward to a long and wonderful life surrounded by those we love.

    Living in the moment

    It's wonderful to hear how you've weathered the storm of surgery and treatment and gotten to the other side! I think for so many of us what we learn from the experience of cancer is the joy of living in the moment. Thank you Janae for sharing your joy with us!

    You ladys are still so wonderfu.  I wasnt really thinking about it a couple of days ago when i wrote this thread, and really havent thought about it to much the last few months as i was thinking and even scuedualing a (EDG) i am having today.  I am having it today because it is spring break and I have no work.  Interestingly enough I scuedualed last years biopsy during this time too because i was off work because of spring break.  Im sure this EDG is going to turn out just fine.  Ive done this prodedure I think three times in the last 10 years.  After writing this thread and after taking to my mom yesterday, It hit me that the reason I have been getting this proceedor done is to provent my really bad accid reflux from turning to cancer.  It was so bad 10 years ago that the doctor called it pre cancer.  It has looked good every time I have had an EDG done since.  Like I said, Its my plan that its going to be just the same today as it has been in years.   I guess what just hit me is Im going to test for cancer again the same week I was doing it last year.  Im doing this procedeure at 1 11:30 aand it doesnt take long.  I might be back home in two hours.

    Janae, thank you for posting about your reflection. I think it is so important for us all to look back at what we have overcome since getting our diagnoses.

    I remember when you first started posting and compare it to how you are doing now. It's a remarkable change. You are a remarkable person. Don't ever forget that.

    My prosedure whent well, was up and out of the hospital in tw. o hours.  Dr. said mt esophigas (SP) loogs ggods.  he didnt see any cancer.  FEW!!!!  he is suppossed to call me within a week for the resultes of all the biopsys he took.

    My anniversaries are coming up in the next month, too (D&C, cancer diagnosis, hysterectomy). It is nice but also strange to look forward to a normal summer, isn't it? I hope you continue to do well.
