do receptors change positive to negative?

Hi,brand new but here's one question I had.

In reading my husband's records, it seems at one point he was 40% ER+ but now he is triple neg? So, these things change? Didn't know that and interesting (probably hard to plan treatment, explains why he got tamoxifien though)

Any information appreciated and thank you!

Hi, ChwaraeTeg:  It is the first time I read about a change in the receptor. Normally they do only one receptor analyisis for a tumor during one's life.  Not all pathologists or pathology labs are equally experienced and maybe the doctor attending your husband understood that the pathology report was incomplete or lacked something and repeated it with some other lab.  I had two pathology reports, one for the biopsy and other for the tumor remotion during Mx.  The reports were similar, not equal, and only one had the receptors information.  However, my BS didn't question the receptors information because he gave me a pill (AI) and my tumor responded fairly well to tx (it shrank to half its size in 26 days).

Did you ask the doc about it?  He can tell you without criticizing the other pathology lab who did the first analysis.  Have a good night, see you soon.
