    mother newly diagnosed

wish I had all the answers... I joined this group when I was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in 2009,and now my 66 year old mom has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma. I haven't had time to even wrap my brain around it. She was hospitalized due to extreme weakness. It turned out that her kidneys were failing and she was full of fluid, so had to do acute dialysis, and at one point, we weren't sure we were going to get to bring her home, well she started feeling better and went to a 2 week program in a  rehabilitation hospital, however she is not getting any better yet, actually getting worse. Now we have to look at options at a skilled nursing facilty because she is not able to walk, or take care of herself, and I pray she gets to come home soon. She just finished her first round of Cytoxin/dexamethasone and Velcaid. The diagnosis and everythiing that started happening have all happened in the last seven weeks. Up until that point, she was like everyone else, lived in her own home, drove, worked part time so she could get out of the house. My mom has become so frail, my brothers and I are praying she finds relief soon. May all in this group find the answers you seek, many blessing to all ....Rhonda
