Going to be a grandpa!

I wanted to share good news with my friends here. I just found out I'm going to have my first grandchild in September. Woohoo!

Honestly, when I had my first tumor (and then the second two years after), I thought I wouldn't live to see a grandchild. When they told me, I must admit I cried. I think I'm going to be around to spoil a grandchild. I'm really excited about it.

So, know this. None of us knows how long we're going to be here. It's so easy when you have cancer or had cancer or are in that grey area of had it not-sure-its-gone, it's easy to fall into the trap of feeling sorry for yourself. I did it. I did it for a long time. I want you to know, it's ain't necessarily so the scary/sad stories you're telling yourself. Nobody knows what's going to happen tomorrow for sure for sure. So hold onto hope. Things can and do get better.

Todd

    It's all fun and games

until they become teenagers. I've got my 10 yo playing guitar and shooting pool. They are fun to teach and influence. You'll have a ball.

    More fun than children

I have 5 of them. The youngest is 15, oldest will be 21 in 2 months. Not ready for the next generation yet. Many fond memories with each one.

    Congratulations

Todd: you are entering a life phase that is beyond description; we have 4, two from each son. The joy they bring to our lives is almost as good and in some ways better than having children.

Catching up and reading and just realized I posted this news twice. I'm showing the symptoms of grandpa! Hahaha.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging responses - on both threads.

    Hugs and hugs,

I thought I congratulated you before but hey, how often do you get to be a first time grandpa? You're entitled to post it twice :)

Todd, wonderful, wonderful news! Our Alice adores her grandpa :-) Get ready to carry him/her around a lot :-) I guess it is too early to tell if it's a boy or a girl, right?

    Too early

Yes. Still don't know. I've heard they have non-invasive blood tests now to determine the gender. I don't know when they can do this. I'll have to ask. My kids want to know.

    Thanks everyone for the congratulations.

I wanted to know if the boy

I wanted to know if the boy or a girl asap too :-). It helped my to get from the abstract baby idea to the real boy or a girl I could love and talk too while he/she is still inside me :-)

Wishing them an easy pregnancy! :-)
