I am anxiously waiting for an ENT visit scheduled Feb. 13th! 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with a dysfunctional turbinate. CT scan "without" contrast came back clear just stated slight deviated septum. Fast forward 2 yrs. and here we go again. Only this time, I still have some blockage of left nostril, sore in upper left nostril that doesn't seem to want to heal. Some blood and occasional nosebleed. I have lost 9 unintended pds. Admit, fatigue but have a hectic life with full time job in the High School and 2 properties to take care of. One of them requires travel to the mtns. My retreat/retirement home. I am always busy. Just wanted to clarify. I do seem to be holding fast @ 109.5 pds however and haven't dropped at least. There are other symptoms including hoarseness and a very funny feeling in my throat, like junk is in it. I have some previous posts on here btw. I am seriously looking for anyone who may have experienced any of these symptoms or who has dealt with nasal cancer? I don't have a diagnosis yet but must prepare myself just in case! I am going to insist on a CT or Pet scan WITH contrast and hopefully biopsy of the sore. I know I will be scoped as they did before 2 yrs ago. One person PM'd me and I was so grateful. And I thank any other people who did reply. I am so appreciative. 3 more wks to some kind of answers. I pray it isn't cancer of course but would love to hear from anyone who has been through this, especially hoarseness, sore in nose. Thank you so very much and God bless!

    Your nerves are getting

worn out, and you still have a couple of weeks before your ENT appointment.  Breathe deep, and try not to fixate on the future....the future scares everybody, even people who aren't worried about their health.  One day at a time...one foot in front of the other.  The 13th will be here soon enough.

    Nasal cancer survivor

Hi Mtngirl. I've had a stage4 nasal cancer successfully treated and now 2 years down the track. I've got my fingers crossed for you and remember the awful waiting for investigations and results. If it's any consolation my own advanced  nasal cancer is no more.

    Stressing:p

Phrannie51, I know you are absolutely right! I tell myself that I need to cross that bridge when it comes and I'll try and forget and go on with my life. And then I have moments when I am in fear of the unknown. I should know better having been through the stress and waiting game at least twice in my life. Once with the liver tumors and once with this nasal problem. I will try to take your advice! It is good, sound advice:) Bless you for replying!

    Thank you AndrewP16nose!

I can't thank you enough for your reply! I am so glad you have survived this monster! It is uplifting to see the survivors on here! I have lost family and friends to various types of cancer and it is very scary! Hearing from you survivors gives so many people hope:) My question to you is did you have a sore in your nose that wouldn't heal? And were you able to be treated without surgery? Just rads and chemo? If I do get the "C" diagnosis I am praying I won't have to have surgery:p Bless you for replying! Truly appreciated!

    I would agree with phrannie

I would agree with phrannie to take some deep breaths... My dad had sinus cancer. They kept treating for sinus infections, then found polyps... to find out it was cancer. It was a rough year or two, but he made it through.  I didn't go through it personally, but watched my dad and we are very close. Try not to worry till you know more. I know it's way easier said than done.  There is a great group of ppl here. Wishing you best of luck and praying it's not cancer.

Yep what Phrannie said. It ain't cancer till they state so so try and relax until the 13th. I knmow it is easier said than done. Considering youre screen name I would assume you enjoy a good mountain. I've been to many and actually live on a hill in the woods and whenever I need to gather my thoughts I often sit outside and enjoy nature which results in peace of mind. The 13th will be here before you know it.  Stay positive.

    Enjoy today..........it's practice for tomorrow

I appreciate your comments and sharing your thoughts! I hope your Dad is doing well now! Just a couple more weeks and trying  to hang in there:p Some of the symptoms are getting worse however! Whatever is inside my left nostril has grown. I can't see it but can feel it when I apply antibiotic with q tip! The pain level is about the same though. I do appreciate your reply and love to hear stories of survival! God bless!

Thank you for your reply! 2 more weeks until the scoping! And yes I love mtns and nature! I am at my retreat/ retirement home now! It is in the Western Mtns of Maine! It was just built and I come here as often as I can for reprieve, peace and quiet:) It is the beginning of a life long dream to have this home in the mtns that I love and just pray all goes well and I get to live out that dream! I am truly encouraged and enlightened by the posts on this site! I am grateful for all of your responses! I guess all the searching in the world isn't going to help me until I know what I'm dealing with but just want to be armed with all the knowledge I can get! Again thank you so much!

    Absolutely, thinking of you

Absolutely, thinking of you and praying for you. You can do this no matter what.  My dad had a feeding tube for awhile which was scary at first, but it was no big to him and actually he got the nutrition he needed. We recently found out he has a tumor on his forehead that went through both sides of skill including the bone. Unsure if it's cancer, but doctor thinks it's likely. Doc seems optimistic so I'm trying to be. So any prayers or positive thoughts I'm taking for him. Ty

I was diagnosed with NPC in 2013 and went through the same treatment as many here have done. 3 big doses of Cisplatin concurrant with radiation and then 3 smaller doses of Cisplatin with 5FU. Brutal but effective. I've been Cancer free since then with the typical Neuropathy and hearing loss.  Since the treatment I get a small amount of bleeding from one nostril or the other at various times and ofcourse worry about it but each time my ENT prescribed Mupricin ointment and it clears up. He says the nostrils are prone to pesky staff infections which will cause a small amount of bleeding. Maybe that's what you have going on. I never had any throat issues leading up to the diagnosis. My only warning signs were a nasal twang to my voice and a swollen lymph node behind my ear. As others have said, "it's not Cancer until it's diagnosed as such". Even in a worst case scenario, these cancers are very curable so try not to worry. I hope your upcoming appointment goes well and can provide you with some relief. Sometimes it's the not knowing that worries us the most. Remember the famous qoute-"You can't control events, only how you react to them"

    initial symptoms

I think the initial symptoms of our cancers would all be so different. For me I got an occasional tiny nose from my right nostril. Looking back this went on for a couple of year then my front upper R tooth felt a little bit numb. No pain in my nose or head. The cancer was growing into my jaw bone so to get it out they took out my 5 front teeth, upper jaw, central hard palate and all the inside of my nose. However they've rebuilt my face and I can eat and talk fine.

    Worried:p

Unfortunately there has been no improvement in any of my symptoms. Left nasal sore is not healing even with antibiotic ointment. Moderate to severe headaches. Intermittent bleeding from left nostril. Sore throat comes and goes. Hoarseness. Feels like "junk" in my throat all the time. Very tired, but nor sure if it's my busy lifestyle:p I have been monitoring my sleep with my new Fitbit and it shows I am restless, sometimes up to 15 times per night as well as waking up 2-3 times. It also shows it's taking me upwards of an 1 1/2 hrs to get too sleep. So not sure if the nasal thing is interferring with breathing and causing me to wake up throughout the night? 10 more days until I see ENT and I am plan on insisting, at the least, a CT scan with contrast. Hopefully other tests will be performed to come too an accurate diagnosis! I agree with you that there are so many with Head and Neck cancers that have had different symptoms. I have been searching high and low on the internet and find this to be true. I so appreciate your responses and from others as well. Hopefully soon will find out what exactly I am facing. God bless you! I forgot to mention that my lips, especially upper lips have felt different for a few months or so now. Almost numb:(

Hi - I am sorry you are going

Hi - I am sorry you are going through this.  I am 9 weeks out from two surgeries for SCC nasal cavity cancer.  I know what you are going through and will be happy to answer any of your questions.  My symptons started with a sore nose over the summer.  the tumor grew in my nasal cavity, had nose bleeds, headaches and seemed like a constant sinus infestion.   Be brave, follow through, ask questions and you will be OK.  You will have supoort here.

I appreciate your response so much! 4 more days to ENT visit! I have headaches for so long now, I can't remember when they started:p Ranging from moderate to severe! Of all the searching I have done for someone with similar symptoms you're one of the few that I have found! Many had symptoms starting with an enlarged Lymph node. Mine are sore but don't think they're enlarged. I hope the last ENT I saw 2 yrs ago didn't miss sometthing or give me a misdiagnosis! Too late to worry about that at this point however! This is a different ENT I will be seeing. The nasal lesion hasn't subsided. I can't see it it but can feel it and it's painful. My PCP who looked at it mentioned erosion and then said he was referring me to ENT. I have been trying to arm myself with all the info I can needless to say! Everyone has been great on this site and I feel kind of silly posting as I don't have a diagnosis yet but can't help but be scared and worried. I keep busy during the day with my job and in general but the scary thoughts creep in despite trying to force them out:p I will defintely check in after my appt Monday! God bless!
