My RCC mets to liver and lungs two years ago.  The Sutent has been controlling them until the past three months.  My lung tumors stayed the same but my liver have doubled in size.  I underwent Y90 Therasphere last Thursday and go for followup scans in February.  Had some bad side effects but feeling better after five days.

Has anyone undergone this?

Thanks!

Hi, my name is Amy.  After 14 years in remission from breast cancer,  I found out  a large breast cancer tumor was growing in my liver. That was in May of 2015. Since then I have had liver surgery, 10 rounds of taxol & carbo platin chemotherapy and Ibrance and Faslodex . Nothing shrank the tumor very much, smaller ones would come and go with the treatments but the large one remained. The goods news (if you can find any good news in these types of things) is that the tumors have stayed contained to the right lobe of my liver and not spread anywhere else. My local medical oncologist recently referred me to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa for some kind of embolization, he said the doctors there would decide. Radioembolization (TheraSphere) was chosen for me. Again, I feel lucky that I have a very healthy liver that just so happens to have metastatic breast cancer tumors in it. The doctor was encouraged by that as well. I had the beads inserted on Monday (today is Saturday) and the worst side effect has been a horrible stomachache that kind of comes and goes but when it comes it stays for hours, I have not been sleeping well.  It is improving but I haven't been eating much as eating seems to bring it on. The past few days I've had pain in my right abdomen but the doctor did tell me I could have pain in my liver and also my gall bladder could get irritated.  I'm just taking Aleve for the pain. I will be getting a CT scan at the end of March to see how its working. I  notice the majority of the posts on here are quite old so I thought maybe we could  get a conversation going about more recent  experiences.  Love and strength to you all! Hope to hear about some good outcomes from this treatment!
