First 3 month test today

I went in for my first three month surveillance scans.  Actually the scans have been on the three month interval for the past two however I was going in for monthly CEA tests prior to this last period. 

So every CT scan and MRI scan I've had (a lot of them) I always feel nauseated shortly after the contrast dye injection. Then it would pass and I'd be fine.

I was so embarrassed today. The nausea came on quick and then it happened. Right in the middle of the test. I couldn't control it. While laying on the table, right in the middle of the scan. Yuk. and embarassing to say the least. 

The two technicians where very gracious and helped me clean the vomit off of my face and shirt.

They assured me that they could have helped me prevent the situation and that I must tell them how I usually feel during the contrast injection. For sure I will.

Now I have to wait...

boy do I dislike the waiting...

    Ah, Phil!

     I bet they've seen it all before.  

    I almost wet myself during my PET scan, and had to call the tech at the very end. I ran, bare footed out of the room and into the loo. I barely made it. I was embarrased also. 

    I'm sorry it was such a trial for you today. And yes, its horrible waiting. When do you get your results?

    They've seen it all

    theyve seen it all. Ofcourse we are embarred, but stuff happens. The waiting is the worsed.

    CEA Results

    The CEA is < 1.0. Still waiting for the scan results but we will rejoice in the news of the CEA.

    And at noon my daughter is having her "reveal" party so we will find out the gender of our first grand baby due in April. Wow. This is shaping up to be a good day. Hoping Western Michigan and University of Michigan can add a little joy to it as well, with some wins. :-)

    And your CEA is Excellent (lower than mine). Has it been a good indicator for you in the past?  

    So sad that I can no longer post my Happy Dancing Man. I think I would post three right now.

    Today was a very good day.

    I'm with you Phil, waiting

    I'm with you Phil, waiting for results is annoying. Did my CEA ten days ago, doesn't show up in the e-mailed test results. Everything else is fine, so I choose to wait until the call after the CT scan on Monday. I keep busy, but every so often, "scan results" pops in my head, and I have to shake it out. A strangely, normalized existence where you casually wait on news that can send you down a painful path, or let you continue on feeling okay for another three months. I hope things are good and you attain a three month interval, I'm trying to get past the three months, but this this round is only five months out. My onc is very conservative, so I don't push, but thinking about cumulative radiation and potential consequences keeps me on edge about the whole process. Minor blessing is that I don't feel any effects from the contrast, outside of sudden heat at my groin. Great Balls of Fire...................................................Dave

    Oh Phil, how awful for you, I'm so sorry. I'm sure they've dealt with that before and are used to it but you're not. I'm glad they can do something to prevent it in the future.

    Sorry About The Incident

    Sorry to hear about the incident, but absolutely no need to feel embarassed (though I understand why one would).  I have been an volunteer EMT for awhile and health care providers have seen many things.  If someone makes you feel anything but at ease and comfortable during the time they are with you, including when incidents like this happens, it is on them and not you at all.  Sounds like the techs were good people and rolled like they should.

    The waiting on the MRI is always fun (got mine next week for three month) and the waiting on the reveal on the grandchild is fun, but real fun.  Congrats :)
