Mother passed

Hi all,

This is my first time here and posting.  I lost my mother to lung cancer on September 4, 2016.  She was diagnosed only 5 days before.  Although I am grateful she did not suffer long, I feel as if I let her down.  I mean, she didn't even have a chance to fight.  She was obviously in Stage IV and we were told there were two larger masses in her right lung, spots in the left lung, liver, adrenal glands, kidneys, and in the fluid surrounding her lungs.  She broke her rib months before so I am wondering if the cancer moved to her bones.  She was alerted something was wrong by not being able to breathe.  Found out she had fluid in her lungs and a bloot clot in the lung once we got to the ER.  She also had a collapsed lung.  I will always wonder if there was something more that could have been done.  Or if she was just too far gone at that point that nothing could have been done.

I feel lost without her.  I cry a lot, can't sleep without pills, and lost all goals and dreams since my mother was a part of them.

First, i am so sorry for your loss. second, please dont blame yourself. I lost my grandfather to stage 4 lung cancer, he never had a real chance to fight either, it was just too late, but these things happen. i know its hard to look at it like this, but at least she is in no pain!! i am currently going through what im calling a cancer scare myself and some days dont know if im coming or going...but god has a plan for everyone, and though i know you miss your mom, this was his plan for her! again sorry for your loss

I am sorry for the loss of your mom.

I had stage 1 and had my lower right lobe removed on 9-23-10.  I am very fortunate to have been undergoing ct scans for anal cancer and thats the only reason they found the cancer in my lung.  My doctor said in many cases the lung cancer isn't found until its a stage IV because thats when the most symptoms come up.

I am sure your mom knows you did everything you could.  She would want you to continue with your goals and dreams.  Give yourself time to grieve and then make your dreams come true.  I wish you the best. Lori
