in Sarcoma #1

Hi Everyone.

 

I am writing as I am concerned about my son. He has presented with a lump on his arm that has now after an MRI finally been identified as a soft tissue sarcoma. We have waited weeks, and nothing will move forward until results of a biopsy that is planned for some time next week. I am worried that things are not moving quickly enough as his lump has grown at an exponential rate. 

Is it during this time that the cancer spreads? He was given the all clear on a lung x ray. His major concern now, is losing his arm. They say blood vessels are running through the tumor, which means saving the arm will be a more involved process. 

We are just so lost and scared. Any advice, encouragement or help would be greatly appreciated.

    pleomorphic liposarcoma

    my husband found a lump on his arm in December 2015. he was diagnosed with pleomorphic liposarcoma after a biopsy. he started radiation in March 2016 and had 25 treatments. the tumor was removed in June. He started chemo in August and gets chemo every 3 weeks.  We had the surgery at Johns Hopkins. They have a track record at treating children with sarcoma if your son is a minor.  My husband gets chemo at the Cancer Treatment Center in Philadelphia now.

    I am 23 and also have a lump on my upper arm. I went for a MRI today and will go to my surgeon tomorrow for the results. I had an ultra sound two weeks ago that also showed that the lump is running through an artery which still has good blood flow but is constricting a vein. I am extremely nervous with everything going I have seen four different doctors and practically had to beg for a referral to the surgeon bc my general doctor told me it was a inflamed muscle then went to the emergency room a week later where they did the ultra sound for them to tell me they that it was a lymph noid. Then I got a referral bc they said it was lymph noid and I go to him and he orders the MRI bc he doesn't think it's a lymph noid. I have to little girls who are 5&4. To say the least I'm freaking out and needs online to talk to whose going through or went through the same thing. Has your son started treameant? Or talked to his doctor about what exactly their going to do? idk how long the lump has been there I found it about a month ago while taking a bath but it hasn't got any bigger in a month so idk. What's your sons story in finding his lump and how big is it?

    I Fibbed Synovial Sarcoma

    I posted this as somebody else in the event that my friend would not recognize me, or my questions, but I should have known that with his character and demeanour, he would not have looked into forums.  My dearest 45 yr old best friend has been diagnosed with synovial sarcoma (as of today..can you believe it took so long?) (don't vote for Trump, but he has a point with the Canadian heath care system) My biggest concern is that his doctor is starting with Chemo and not Radiation. Every reputable cancer hospital in our big city of Toronto apparently starts with radiation before surgery. He lives in a town with some great specialty clinics outside of Toronto, and their front line of treatment is Chemo before radiation..then radiation and then surgery.

    Are we doing the right thing in putting all our faith in this doctor who says that this our first line of defence. we certainly cannot start from the beginning again..

     

    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

    Not moving fast enough

    Hockeylvr,

    My husband has a soft tissue sarcoma in his thigh. It grew huge, was misdiagnosed, removed, oops, it's a sarcoma! Now over a month later it's a game of hurry up and wait too.

    I'm so sorry about your son. Do you know what kind of sarcoma? My husband's is an undifferentiated polymorphic sarcoma. A fast growing one, they are the worst. 

    How old is your son?
