When the hair comes back after last chemo?

Congrats on finishing your chemo. My infusion center had a ship's Bell to ring when departing the last time, but I don't know if that is a universal practice.

Hair return rates vary a lot, and oddities occur. I had lost all hair, including eyelashes and brows, but my facial hair came back first -- first on one side of my face, which then stopped growing, but began on the other side, and eventually to both sides. Several of my nurses and the NP said they had not seen this occur before.

Hair might return like it was before, or significantly different.  Mine came back thinner ( not uncommon). It also changed texture, going from very coarse before, to very fine.  It is still fine now, five years post-chemo.

Changes in color are not uncommon.  Most people have significant return within a month.  But hair virtually always does return.  The rate is not alterable by diet or supplement that I am aware of.

Hi Dana, congratulations on finishing your R-CHOP, the same chemo I had. 

My first hair that grew back was a boar bristle on my chin! **$@!?  Next came my leg hair which I had loved not having. I still don't have any arm or underarm hair which I think is great. I will refrain from talking about "down there".

When my head hair started coming in, I thought it was taking FOREVER. It was about 3 months before I felt comfortable going in public without a hat or scarf. Even then, my hair was extremely short. I decided to call it chemo chic and go with it. When it started growing more, it came in darker and curly. I loved my chemo curls but in time they grew out. Now my hair texture is just like it was before. The only difference is that after four years, it is still much darker than before. It is beautiful and I appreciate it more than I ever have. I remember the day I said to my husband, "Life is good! I'm having a bad hair day". 

Enjoy the process and know your body is returning to itself.

so happy for you that your treatment has ended...it feels like it takes forever..I took pictures every week of mine and could see the progress . I too like Rocquie embraced the short , I think I actually went. Out with itpretty bald still because I just didn't think it fair that I had to wear a hat just because I had no hair and guys run around bald all the time! Embrace the bald, buy some big earrings put some lipstick on and be joyful!!!

Hair

I'ts been 6 months and my hair is slightly longer than that of my 1 year old granddaughter. I only wear a cap when I go out, especially to work. Right at the front it is still very thin. I am trying to come up with a scarf or hair band to wear that will cover that thin area and yet show the rest of the hair.
