in Ovarian Cancer #1

    Dittohd1, please know that I don't believe any of us could make it through our fight without the love and support of family and friends.  Caregivers are always welcome to the chat boards to ask questions.  What is it your loved one is dealing with?  While I suspect ovarian cancer, is she newly diagnosed?  in treatement? 

    I can't imagine what my loved were thinking when I told them.

    Ovarian Cancer

    My wife was diagnosed almost 9 years ago with Ovarian Cancer, Stage IIIC.   At the time of her debulking surgery. her oncologist told me that she would have about 2 years to  live.  Her 9 year anniversary is at the end of August, 2016.  Although she has had 5 recurrences, she is still alive and functioning.  The Chemo treatments make her so weak, sometimes I think the effects of the Chemo are more damaging than the disease but her oncologist has kept her alive and functioning for all this time, who am I to question his decisions.  Her CA-125 numbers are very accurate in diagnosing her condition.  When they're high she gets chemo, when the numbers are low/normal she gets no treatment.  It is like a yo yo of emotions.  I've learned not to be surprised by anything.  When you think things are OK, sometimes they aren't and when you're worrying yourself to death, something from out of the blue smacks you back to reality.  Reality is, this is a monstrous disease that keeps coming back.  Seems as if it will never go away and never be cured but you've got to keep trying and keep yourself together.  It is really easy to let this monstor get you but don't let it.  Stay strong.

    Nuyawker18, it is nice to hear the voice of the care givers!  You are as welcome as the warriors.  None could have made it without the love and support of family and friends.
