its strange to be congradulating someone who's going to have hip replacemen, but im so happy for you. what an amazing time we are living in, 10 years ago this would have not been an option.
nothing to it stomps. They will have you up the next day ambulating with a walker. The entire process is like 3 minutes of IL-2. In a couple weeks you will look back and be amazed at how easy it was. Good for you!
I think I'll wait a couple of weeks before I compare it to IL2 Fox, mate. But I'm home and healthy with a pain in the butt. Physical Therapy starts tomorrow. I already knew how to use a walker.
Thank you all for your good wishes. See chaps, it works!
All the best with the new joint. Replacement hips are cool -- did you know they've been doing that surgery for 100+ years? Lots of changes and advancements.
Please keep us posted wih a full report, including, does the latest gizmo that they're giving out to help you put on your socks actually work?

Yes it is a thing of simplicity and wonder. Almost as good as my wife's Christmas cake that she pulled from God-knows-where. Made in November, eaten in June. What does she put in that thing?
I worked in an office where the boss's wife always sent in a HUGE pan (largedishpan-sized) of Rum Balls at holiday time. We could pretty much forget accomplishing too much at work that day. They were amazing and would've probably lasted for months, but nobody ever gave them the opportunity.
I'm not sure where I'd find her, if she's even still around.
I've never tried to make rum balls before, so I'd probably have to test a LOT of recipes before I found the right one. It's been a while since I've drafted a proposal for a Quality Improvement project, but I think I could probably pull it off. Do you suppose there's anybody who'd be interested in assisting with Rum Ball assessment?
I was going to wait until closer to the holidays, although, I'm sure -- if we take a poll -- there's a holiday somewhere. Summer Bank Holiday? August Bank Holiday? Labor Day Weekend? It's a tad warm to bake. Perhaps I could start with some no-bake rum ball recipes. Then there's recipes from Martha Stewart, Joy of Cooking, Cooks Illustrated, the website Crash Test Kitchen.... I'll let you know.
You will tell the Mrs that the rum balls are dangerously flammable, won't you? And should I disappear for an extended period of time once I start experimenting with the recipes, would you all just promise to type very quietly when on the forum?
Hip Hip Hooray was the first thing that came to mind to write you and I see I wasn't the first!!! Anyway, so happy to hear its been done, you are on recup and as you say, the fact that your doctor had you have this surgery must sure mean he intends to have you around for awhile! Great news to learn!
I hope you're continuing to heal well. I have heard about hip surgeries....were you awake, but frozen in the hip area? I know someone who described how the doctors were literally hammering the new hip into place. That would be bizarre to hear all that. Glad it is all "behind" you now!
Taking really powerful antibiotics. After IL2 diseases roam my body with quite a degree of immunity. These antibiotics seem to be working but its still weeping a bit. I'll see the Dr. tomorrow to find out why my buttock gently weeps.

Yup. As long as you're not a kin to a Studebaker ("There ain't a franchised dealer around for miles"*), you're all set.
