Pain during BM ?

I have Stage 3b anal cancer.  I completed treatment (chemo and radiation) on April 18th and I am still having terrible pain during every bowel movement.  Is this normal?  When does it start getting better??

Hi and welcome.  I'm glad you are through treatment, but sorry to hear about your painful BM's.  I remember having pain with mine for quite some time after my treatment ended.  I suspect what you are experiencing is within the realm of normal post-treatment.  You might want to try applying some Lidocaine cream to your anal area prior to a BM to numb the area.  Also, if your stool is hard, a stool softener may help.  Be sure to drink plenty of water to avoid constipation and hard stools.  I hope you will find something that will help, however, sometimes time is the best healer.  I wish you all the best in your continued recovery.

10 years out here and I do

10 years out here and I do still as well.  I actually changed my diet a year ago to high carb, low fat and it was the BEST thing that I did.  Fibre is NOT my frend at all.

I still have loose stools but no issues anymore with painful BM's.
