in Colorectal Cancer #1

I was wondering how many of you had NHL before you had rectal/colon cancer. My brother had NHL in 2000 and treated aggressively with CHOPS, a type of chemo cocktail. His doctor feels that treatment led to his rectal cancer. Just wondering since Joemetz and WinneyPooh also had NHL. I was thinking recently of my conversations with Joemetz, he was a helluva nice guy.

    Interesting. My dad didn't, but it is an interesting point. We question why my dad ended up with medullary thyroid cancer along with colon cancer, especially since thats very rare.

    I was just wondering because there is no family history of colorectal cancer in our family. The doctor thinks it could be from CHOPS. 

    Joemetz and I had talked about this in the past. He had NHL as well. He's been gone a while now. it's so sad how we lose our friends on this board.

    I got CML post colon cancer

    I was originally diagnosed with colon cancer in 2007.  I was diagnosed with chronic myleogenous leukemia in 2013.  I believe it's from all the chemo (close to 50 rounds at that point), but of course no one will say so.  At least my CML is well regulated with a pill.  Traci

    I was just wondering if anyone got a secondary cancer after their first cancer was treated. My brother's doctor believes he got the rectal cancer from the chemo used when he had NHL. I'm glad your CML can be regulated.

    When monitoring something else which could be cancer, they did a CT Scan which had a shadow "over there" and said I should have an MRI to rule out cancer.  Had the MRI, but did not rule out cancer :)  Well the other possible cancer took second fiddle while the CRC was taken care of.  And it seemed the other cancer may have just been variations and not cancer.  Until today, where a test ramped up the odds.   Looking at an MRI to see if that can answer the question.  If not, biopsy time and maybe finding new friends in a different cancer group.  Looking at the positive, means I can meet twice as many great people. Urgh....just had my port flushed the other day and now this.  Just when you think you are out, they drag you back in.

    Gee, that sucks!

    I hope it's benign. This disease is horrile! 

    My brother is very weak and tired and doesn't want to do any more procedures. Chemo is out of the question now because of his heart. I am hoping the physical therapist is able to strenghten his heart enough so he can go back on chemo, but I don't know if he wants to fight anymore. It's sad. It has been a long 5 years for him.
