Architectural Distortion ??

Has anyone been told that their mammo showed architectural distortion? After a bit of a "dust-up" with my breast center last week for my 3-D mammo, I have been called back for a spot compression on the breast that did not have cancer. Earliest appointment was next Monday so I have to struggle through the next 6 days of waiting. Oh how I hate the wait--it really never gets any better. I'm not one who can compartmentalize very well, so the worry is present and the tears are just a blink away.

I have done my googling to see what this is. It seems to be categorized with micro-calcifications which the first time around, led to a Stage 1 TNBC diagnosis.

I'm not a happy camper at the moment.

Thanks for your input.

JoAnn

    Big hug

No, that exact thing hasn't happened to me, but I've had tests go awry and the waiting sends me into crazytown around the bend so I just wanted to acknowledge your "not a happy camper at the moment" feelings and send a big huge hug. I hear you. It's all so very hard some of the time. Just know you're on my mind, not that that can change your outcome at all, but you're not sitting there completely alone.

The waiting is the worst part of the tests

Scans, etc.  I think it could get better.  I suggested here that they leave some spots open for callbacks so we do not have to wait 1-2 weeks, the scheduler just looked at me.  That is how you know they have no clue what we go thru.  I don't know about you, but I do really well with scans and tests...  until the day before that is.  I still get really uptight and I am already stage iv, so the scans are just to measure the spread.

I really wish you the best these next 6 days.. hopefully you can find something fun to do to keep your mind off of it.

    Hugs and  prayers,

    Carol

Waiting is the absolute hardest part. Maybe you could treat yourself to something for the next six days? Like visit a friend or a park, just anything to stay calm. Let us know how it all works out when you are able, Anna

    now a biopsy is needed...

The spot compression mammo still showed architechtual distortion so now I need to have a tomosynthesis biopsy. D mammo that I literally had to argue with the tech to get. It would not have shown up with just the digital and did not show on the ultrasound. What a lesson about standing up for your rights I am learning and also about having to be your own advocate.

The good news is that I don't have to be face down with my breast hanging through a hole--I get to sit up. The biopsy is scheduled for March 29th at 10am. They told me the results would take 48 hours.

More waiting, however, I have my valium ready and my husband will go with me.

    Yes, always speak up!

Being your own advocate is important in treatment.  Nothing against the providers, I think they see so many patients that it is difficult to tell each one everything.  I also wonder about how the internet information affects how appointments go.  So many people are searching for answers, and sometimes we look for an immediate explanation rather than waiting until our next appointment.

While further testing and waiting can be disappointing, I am glad to hear that your insistence has brought results. It is true that "the squeaky wheel gets the oil."  Try to keep busy over the next week, and your appointment will be here before you know it!

    best wishes!
