Insurance Issues

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

I was just wondering if any of you have had co-pay or deductible problems with your treatments.  I've got pretty good insurance but I'm pretty sure I can't afford and up front payment for this surgery.  My deductible is $2200 and there is no way I can afford that.  I can just about afford to pay the premiums montly as I'm on a fixed income of Social Security. 

I can't believe they would deny the surgery based on that but I don't know.  I plan to call the hospital next week to ask questions about financial aid and payment arrangements but am curious if any of you faced the same issues.

    Most places do have people that handle the financial aspect, are understanding, and will work with you on a payment plan you can afford. I would expect them to work with you on this issue, so hopefully all will be okay.

    Sorry but insurance is just one big rip off joke now. My insurance went up so high I could not afford having it. Obummer care wanted me to pay a monthly $1,600 plus a $7,500 out of pocket. All they did was to take insurance away from people like me and giving it to someone else. Just hope I can hold out until I can get on Medicare next year.

    You are not alone on this one; I just pray we can all survive it somehow.

    I can't say for hospitals elsewhere...

    ..but here at our hospital, they make payment arrangements without blinking an eye.  Deductables are skyhigh, and the cost of medical care is too....It appears that our hospital deals with situations like yours everyday, and do what they can to help.

    Phrannie51, I've had that

    Phrannie51, I've had that experience in our local hospital when I had a stroke and had no insurance.  I didn't have to pay anything.   I think Yale/Smilow cancer center has a financial assistance program and I hope it will apply to me.  It's awful to have the additional worry when I'm dealing with this health problem.  Stress helps nothing.

    Most places will work with you.  When I was diagnosed I had NO insurance and quickly hit the $600k mark!  I'm getting there and paying each month (3 years later), and have never had any issues with collections or anything.  Best of luck to you!

    Obamacrap Insurance

    As bad as it was for me trying to deal Obamacare insurance, I just went to get my Tax’s done and found that the Government wants me to pay $11,000.00 dollars more for the Obamacare insurance I had for only 9 mounts last year. He will end up braking everyone and braking this country
