PSA and RCC
Is an elavated PSA a sign for RCC too?
All the urologists we went to said the PSA is from very large prostate, but after laser surgery which solved the prostate issue and eliminated the chance of Prostate Cancer, the PSA which went a bit down (from 15 to 9, is up again to 15 now). Since I previously had RCC, I suspect it is from the kidney, and have read that there might be correlation.
Anyone had elevated PSA due to RCC?

I was curious, and loved it up.
I found a paper; Here is the link (cut and paste it: http://clincancerres.aacrjournals.org/content/3/8/1427.full.pdf).
They looked at women, whos should not have mearable PSA and found that PSA in the control group (no RCC) was not measurable. For woman with RCC, the PSA was measurable, at >0.1; but uniformely less than 1.0 ug/l. For a baseline, my PSA (male) is 0.4. So, it is measurable. But is in the normal range.
To me, this means that PSA may be associated with RCC, but it is probably in the noise level of the measurements (for men). It might be useful for my daughter, though.
