Mother has Glioblastoma Multiforme/Daughter Needs Advice
My mother was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in May of 2014. While the tumor could not be removed (too deep), they treated her
wtih the standard protocol of chemo and radiation all last summer. Radiation was for three months, then the chemo pill continued for 10 months.
She has responded very well, got her language skills back and her memory improved after the medication started to take effect. Now 15 months into this
journey, we have hit a slight bump in the road.
Her latest MRI showed a "white dot" and the Neuroncologist is going to do another MRI in six weeks to look at it again. She said it could be anything
from a new tumor cell to scar tissue from radiation. Her blood series numbers look good, so she thinks there is no activity at this point in the brain.
I am her only daughter and we are both extremely close to each other. Mom is able to live alone but I see her everyday and we have family that checks on her
everyday.
I find myself so afraid of losing her and sad but I don't want to lose sight of the present times we have together. What advice would you give as a caregiver?
How do I make sure we do not have any regrets and how do I make things as easy for Mom as possible?
