Hi all,

Has anyone here had genetic testing for Lynch Syndrome? Its basically a test for colon cancer, but it can predispose you to other cancers also, so sometimes the genetic counselors recommend it to other cancer dx as well. 

I had breast cancer and kidney cancer and so was advised to get this test, but don't know how I feel about it.

Thoughts from anyone who's familiar with it is appreciated.

    hello

    I did have the colonext panel done on genetic testing whick I think test several areas.  I know  I am positive in the one panel for kidney colon breast gastric and prostate.  Prostate i will never get !00% guaranteed LOL   However I did have colon and kidney cancer and a mass in breast right now that they have a tumor marker watching it.  On film it appears to look like cancer will irregular borders, and picks up no echo...hypoechoic, which shows a hard mass.  THe APC panel was positive for brain skin and pancreatic cancers.  They at thought I had lynch syndrome without testing because my g-mother died in 1959 with vulvular cancer, didnt know if start on inside of body and came out or vice versa, however it took her life.  So without the ovarian ca showing up I had the testing.  I think it is wonderful to have it done.  You then know the areas to watch and signs and symptoms of cancer.  Best of Luck to you .  My  testing was done by Ambry Lab in calif I believe.
