Ovarian ephithelial stage 3c

in Ovarian Cancer #1

Hello everyone, new here. My mom has been diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer she had her debulking surgery on the 4th of March and was due to start chemo last Sunday but it was postponed because she caught a stomach microbe and onc said chemo might harm due to low immunity.

 

Any survival stories? I lost my dad 8 years ago and am 28

    hassank, I am a visitor from the uterine board, the below the belt cancer gals stick together, so I was saddened to see you had to find us. 

    First off, what a great job your parents did to have such a loving and caring daughter.  Please know you can ask the ladies of this board anything as they are always listening and willing to help all they can.

    Chemo is hard on your body, so waiting until your mother is stronger may be helpful for her.  Eating good food and protein will be important to her diet, and losing your appetite is typical with chemo.  Fortunately, there is NOTHING like family who knows how we like our coffee, sandwiches cut, house cleaned, TV shows and books to read.  

    Her journey with cancer is different from yours, but you have a journey as well.  I can't imagine what my family was going through but I needed them very much as your mother needs you.

    Please come back and let us know how the two of you are doing.

    CT SCAN

    SCAN shows ascites and peritoneal nodules my moms surgery was 42 days ago is this normal? after her surgery the cytology returned malignant peritoneal wash. I talked to the doc today he said that it was still considered stage 3c. 

     

    Does anyone know anybody with malignant ascites surviving more than a year?

    hassank , I can't answer your question about survival time after being diagnosed with malignant ascites, though I am sure other women here can answer that question for you. I did ask my gynecologic oncologist if a positive wash was the same thing as malignant ascites and he said no. I had a positive wash. I am sorry that you and your mother are dealing with this disease. I wish you both the very best.

    Abby did they tell you that your peritoneal wash was positive for malignant cells? because that is what they told mom is it different from malignant ascites?

    we went today to the onc and she still has the stomach bacteria so her chemo is postponed to sunday at the earliest :(

    Hi , hassank,

    When I had my hysterectomy in 10/13 , my doc put a saline solution into my abdominal cavity, swished it around and took a sample of the fluid for assessment. I had cancer cells in this sample and was told that I had "a positive wash". I did not have , according to my surgeon, ascites. I really don't know what is involved in making a diagnosis of ascites, but once your mom starts chemo this should begin to go away. I hope your mom is able to start chemo soon and that it will put her in remission quickly, like I am now.  Take good care of yourself as well as your mom.

    I was diagnosed lwith stage 4

    I was diagnosed lwith stage 4 ovarian cancer more than 7 months ago. The doctor that diagnosed me seemed to think I had very little time left to live. I have not had surgery, chemo, or radiation. Instead, I put my trust in the Lord! I went on the vegan diet for a couple of months after being diagnosed and I noticed a very positive difference in way I felt! I went back to eating meat because I was not getting enough protein from the vegan diet.The only thing I had done is had a PluerX Catheter put in my stomach so we can drain my fluid at home. If your mom has fluid building up in her stomach, you may want to ask about it. I was awake during the surgery to put it in. I had an IV for pain meds and took 2 Tylonol 3 and 1 Oxycodone in 4 hours and they did very little to help with the initial pain. For 48-72 hours after the surgery, I had bad muscle cramping at the surgery site when I sat up. Thankfully, the pain was not bad when I was laying down. After the first 72 hours, I loved having it. We drained16 liters of fluid in 3 weeks at home and it relieved the pressure in my stomach and legs. I could finally walk comfortably without all of the fluid in my legs. I have been blessed through this whole experience! My husband and I will pray for you and your mom!

    Hi everyone its been 50 days since moms surgery and she still hasnt started chemo since she still has a c diff infection yet no diarhea she had a ct scan on 5 of this month and lung is clean today she starte4d having dry cough is this sign of mets? does canc usually met to lungs this fast? she had optimal debulking on 4 march

    I don't post much but I am a stage 3c ovarian cancer person. I also have MMMT cancer on top of the Ovarian.  I was DX in Oct 2013. I am on my second surgery and second round of 6 chemo. Right now I am in limbo on getting my3rd chemo because blood counts are low but other than that I am feeling good. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able get get the scheduled treatment. All you can do with this cancer is live day to day and pray for the best. And I have chosen to fight this to the end.
