Does anyone know if chest pain has anything to do with lung met? I've had shoulder pain for few days then the pain into my chest, right side and now i have pain in shoulder and chest, both right side, it's worsening, the breathing. Is OK and no coughing, but the right chest hurts so much since  last night. It's our national holiday so I won't see my oncologist sooner that Saturday. I'm almost frightened.  Any information will be appreciated. Forough

I think it's very unlikely that anything would have grown to the point of you feeling it since your clean scans in November. Very unlikely. Probably not your cancer. It's just extremely unlikely that a bone or lung met would grow to the point of feeling it in 5 months (unless you had it already...did you get a chest CT when they did your others?)

Are you getting any treatment/drugs? Or on any drug studies?

Not to say you couldn't have something else serious going on. Can you go to urgent care or a walk-in clinic and have it checked out?

You say it hurts? Is it constant? When you breathe? Comes and goes? Say more about it.

If you're in pain, you should see a doctor. I'd say any doctor. Doesn't need to be your oncologist.

I'm not on any trial and

I'm not on any trial and don't use any drug. Since last night it is worsening. Now i feepain all the time and it is 1 to 4 on pain scale. The pain is in chest. Between Right upper ribs and shoulder. I had chest ct four months ago with Ned result and that's what makes me hopeful. I'll go to ER but  am not hopeful they can help. The pain doesn't change when i take a deep breath. Seems sleeping is worst position and standing up is best.I have no breathing problem either.

    Chest Pain

I have been experiencing the same symptoms you have described for a week or so and share your concerns.  I had my CT scans yesterday and I don't have an appt w/ my oncologist until

April 8th.  I plan on asking him if it has something to do w/ the lung nodules they are watching closely.  I have myself convinced that it is not a heart problem because the pain is on the right side not left.  Do you sometimes feel pain when you lift your right arm up to your shoulder?  I also do not have a cough.  Strange as it sounds!

Hoping you find out something and when you do please share your findings.

    Take good care,

    Diane

    High School kids

I'm a teacher and since I've been diagnosed with this disease a depressing amount of kids have come to me with stories about their dads having cancer.

They ALL without exception complain about the same thing.

Their dads, despite being diagnosed with cancer and knowing that the earlier they saw the doctor the better their chances are, STILL wont go to a doc when they are ill or worried.

IT DRIVES YOUR KIDS NUTS!!! JUSTIFIABLY!

    GET THEE TO A PHYSICIAN

    WITH ALACRITY!

ps I'm no better than the rest of you.

    Chest Pain

I had chest pain...I had convinced myself it was another lung met; I had felt the first one, as it was growing at the lining.  It wasn't.  It was Angina.  In the end I needed 4 stents....get it checked out.  Unknown chest pain is ER werthy.

    Definitely get checked. Any

Definitely get checked. Any time anyone has chest pain it needs to be checked, whether they had cancer or not. While I'm not physician, since you had a chest CT just four months ago I really doubt it's lung mets that grew so fast that they're causing you pain.

    Obviously not mets (with

Obviously not mets (with clear scan 4 months ago), but could be smth esle rather serious. Like pneumonia, for example. My fiance had it in January, without cough and without fever. got diagnosed by X-ray.

Thanks every one.Today I had blood pressure,  & chest x-ray, cpr, which showed nothing, thanks God.I'll see my oncologist Saturday to have CT if he thinks it's needed. Now i have no pain but since morning I have very little shortness of breathing. ER doctor (urologist) said it's because of being so stressed. I hope everything goes well.

    Anyone knows if a possible

Anyone knows if a possible nodule which is too small to show in x-ray can cause those symtoms I explained above?

    Anything is possible...but

ANything is possible; but, typically any nodule too small to be seen on XRAY will not present any symptoms.

    No

Very unlikely. Particularly you had a clean CT scan 4 months ago.

Get it checked out. If they say everything is ok, it might actually be stress. Your mind is a powerful thing.

    YES Todd...

Todd stole my thunder, I was going to say one can be amazed at what the mind can do... Pain that, at one point in our lives, is just "a nuisance" can feel like the worst pain ever once our mind starts to focus on it.  Before my last scan I was starting to get a little freaked out about back pain and you can definitely push it up a few notches when you focus on it.  A pain scale 3 becomes a 5 or 6, a 5 becomes a 7 and so on.

Sounds like a panic attack. I recommend clonazapam

    Symptoms

I had the worst symptoms throughout and towards the end of my 1 year on the everolimus drug trial. I found out a month ago I was on the placebo. Shocked me to my core that I wasn't on the drug. Of course there is something even in a placebo (what we don't know, they won't tell us).

The oncologist I talked to on Monday said that patients often have more/worse symptoms on placebo than on a drug.

The mind and body have a powerful connection. Stress has real physical effects and where you put your focus and what you tell yourself can have a big effect on how something feels. There's this strong feedback loop between the two.

    I saw my uro-oncologist and

I saw my uro-oncologist and explained all symptoms I have, he said it's unlikely to have lung nodule which can cause symptoms just four months post clear scan and also said lung related issues are usually shortness of breathing(which i don't have anymore), coughing,....9which i had none) so he told me I should have bone scan just to make sure everything is fine. since I'd never had bone scan, this can be the baseline, I did it today, and thanks God, the technician told me it was normal and I don't need to worry about it, i almost cried. unfortunately I'm a worrier so i had imagined the worst, it was very difficult for me to wait 24 hours to have the result. Now I feel relieved but the chest discomfort still exists, tomorrow I'll talk with Uro-oncologist again to see what's next to do.

    These are great news, so

These are great news, so happy for you !!!

btw, your pain could be muscular too. Now I remember having something similar in 2011, it went away by its own after all. Never pursued this issue...

    Celebrate good results!
