I have just been notified that my brother has to go into hospice or have a hospice caregiver with him.  I am due to start the next round of my chemo (taxol) on Monday,February 9.  Of course this all happens on the weekend.  Has anyone else traveled while taking chemo.

I have already inquired in regards to traveling while on radiation.   Yikes.

Then  future brother in law has inoperable throat cancer.

    I did.

It was an hour flt. I just missed a week, I was getting weekly infusions at the time. I would run it by your onco. If your counts are low, you may not want to chance travelling especially with the flu and virus's going around now.
Sorry to hear about your family members who are also ill. We have that now in my family with me and one of my brothers both stage iv. His counts are too low to even qualify for treatment now uch less travel.
Being on chemo, you probably wont want to travel if your counts are low.
    Wish you all the best.

    I Did

My family was having a celebration of my parents' 60th Anniversary, and my sister I rarely see (lives in CA), would be there.  I said to the family that I probably would not know if I could do it until the last minute.  The trip is almost 400 miles, and we went by car.

I had my 2nd AC infusion on Monday, had my neulasta shot Tuesday.  My hair was starting to fall out, and so Thursday I got a buzz cut.  Friday about noon, my husband and I headed out.  Our family had a photographer come for family pictures Saturday.  We had the party for my parents Saturday.  Went to church Sunday mornong.  Headed home after dinner Sunday.  Back by about 9:30.

I had my anti-puke pills along with me.  I did amazingly well.  Aside from wearing a hat/wig, no one would have guessed what was going on with me.

After my first infusion, I had found that TH/FR/SA were my days I didn't feel my best; but I think that because I had just barely begun chemo, I was all right.

Because I was not working at the time, I knew I could get rested up after we got back, since I had nowhere to be.

That first trip was about 800

That first trip was about 800 miles round trip.   The second trip I took was to Lancaster, PA, and then on to the DC area for my high school reunion.  I did that 10 days after completing my chemo (ACT).  That trip was nearly the same as the OH trip.  We were gone four days.  I paced myself and did amazingly well.  I realize not everyone fares as well as I seemed to -- but we can all hope, until disproven, I would say.
