edited December 2014 in Head and Neck Cancer #1

Haven't been on the board since the beginning of the month. Back then I noticed how few post there were compared to last year at this time. I guess as treatment finishes and NEDs are given people tend to focus elsewhere. I am happy for that but hope they check in at least once a year to give those just starting the fight or still fighting the battle encouragement.

December has been a rough month as chest colds have run rampant in my family and I am dreading my first Christmas alone. I am going to Ohio for several weeks to distract me from the reminders of traditions Jim and I shared. I will be staying with my sister Rita who lost her husband to the beast 4 years ago. Please remember us in your prayers on Christmas Eve. Light a candle for us if you are Catholic.

I will be helping Rita drive to Florida to spend a few months with me. She suffered a stroke a year ago and wants someone to accompany her so she doesn't get lost. She spent the last month of Jim's life helping me with Jim and comforting me.  I am so grateful to have her walk with me during my grief.

I also want to thank all of you who have helped me get through these last 3 years. Without your prayers and encouragement I would not have survived this ordeal. I pray that everyone on this board will recieve NEDs now and for years to come. God bless you and keep you.

Merry Christmas, Debbie

I am an "oldie" who came back to CSN to wish you and all those still in the battle to have a Merry Christmas.  Your loved ones would want you to enjoy the holidays I'm sure.

    All the best,

    Hi Debbie,

Thanks for checking in. I'll always remember the fish stories and Jim's passion never waning to hook one more. It's wonderful you have your sister to be with during the holidays. Bye for now, Don

Thinking of you and wishing you well. This will be my first Christmas without my younger sister and my Mother and my husband is in acute rehab following a stroke. It's been a difficult year. Try to reflect on happy times and memories of times shared with Jim.

    God blessyou and safe travels

    Thanks for all the well

Thanks for all the well wishes. THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE IN PLANS. I will not be going to Ohio as several things have happened to change those plans. The major one is my mother is coughing up blood again and the CT  doesn't bode well. She goes for a PET scan next week. I am scared and depressed. Please keep her in your prayers.

    Life has a way

of flipping us all over at times. Even though I don't post as often, I think about you all every day , I will never forget the encouragement and knowledge I found on this board. Merry Christmas, pray your Mom is having just a set-back and you'll be able to bring your sis to Florida soon
