Scanxiety.......again

Had my MRI on Tuesday. That is unusual as I normally have it on a Friday. I was told that it was because I was on a 'general' list which was probably due to the bowel type radiologist appointments either being full or that there wasn't a bowel radiologist available. I am not due an appointment with my oncologist unil April, & don't see CR surgeon until January. This means I am awaiting a phonecall re the results. The phone call hasn't been made yet, so now the scanxiety is now growing. Will the radiologist reading the scan be experienced enough to see what they need to? A lot kind of rides on this as we know.  Why haven't I heard as yet? Do they need to discuss at MDT because something has been found? Will I be able to trust the report anyway? I hate the impact that the original diagnosis continues to have.......for all of us. All I can ever say is 'so far so good', because I know I will always be looking over my shoulder. Sometimes I think of the future as I used to, I.e. ideas for holidays, plans for work on our home etc, & then others (less frequently these days but still happens), those thoughts are accompanied by 'I wonder if I will still be here' or 'if I am still here'.  Scanxiety times are the worst.

I can so relate to what you are going through and I'm sure everyone else on this board can as well.  Scanxiety--I've suffered from it every time I've had a scan.  However, I think it's normal for us to feel anxious until we get those results, which I hope you'll get real soon.  I would not read anything negative into the fact that you still haven't gotten your results.  It's probably just a case of the department being overloaded or some other simple reason.  Still, I understand how hard the waiting is!

My oncologist always orders my scans, followed up by an appt. with him a few days later to discuss results.  I'm surprised that your doctors have you get a scan with no appt. until January and April.  I guess all doctors are different.

Please let us know when you get those results.  I'm sure you will get good news and be able to breathe a sigh of relief!

Imagination runs riot whilst awaiting scan results. I try using my mindfulness techniques as best I can but we all know what it's like. As for no appointment with the team, I saw my onc after my annual ct scan on 1st October. Unfortunately,  my appointments and scans are out of sync. I would be more concerned if I am called in to discuss. It would mean something not right. So I am happy with a phone call. Time will tell as they say. Meanwhile I am keeping busy.

    Thanks Martha

    Call Your Doctor

I had to call my doctor during to initital testing only to find out there was a miscommunication between my primary care physician and gastroenterologist .  Each one thought the other had contacted me.

I have spoken to my onc's sec so she is aware I need to be informed of results. Just lack of patience on my part & an overactive imagination hopefully.

Trust me! They won't be given a chance to forget to let me know. Think 'dog with a bone'

    So far so good

My oncologist telephoned me this morning to say the scan was good. Phewww!!! She said that the radiologist picked up an enterocele & will discuss further with my CRS. But it's not cancer!!!

    Next scan (mri) in May.

A glass of wine is earmarked for the weekend to celebrate

    Cheers everyone
