Has anyone ever heard of scar tissue in a kidney after a partial? He lost 20%of his kidney to renal cell chromophobe two years ago. Last scan was in May at Cleveland Clinic. All was well.  He had pain a few weeks ago and his primary dr.sent him for a ultrasound.  He got a call that something was there maybe scar tissue. He is having the scan sent to Cleveland to have them read it. If the cancer does return to kidney is it considered a recurrance and will the stage be changed  ?

I'm surprised that no one knows the answer to my stage question.

    Scar Tissue!

Hi Gingersnaps, I had clear cell kidney cancer in 2003, I had Radiofrequency to remove the top part of my kidney. In 2009 I had an ultrasound and was told I had a scar on the top of my right kidney, basically where I had the tumour removed. I had ultrasounds in 2010 and 2011 they still advised me I had a scar. December 2012  I had a CT scan where I was advised the scar had grown, I was sent for an MRI whereby they discovered a tumour of over 4 cm. It was considered a reoccurrence of the original Cancer but the cells had changed, I was now a grade 3 instead of 2, but still stage 1b.

I am glad you are having your scan checked! I hope it is nothing to worry about:)

    Stage

Hi Ree, thank you but I know very little really, I am just going from my own reports. The stage 1b related to size and spread of the tumour, mine was about 4.3 x 3cm.

How are you doing, we don't see you often? I hope everything is going well:)
