Stanford

I head off to Stanford tomorrow.  I received a letter stating that they would accept whatever my insurance would pay, I am afraid it will be $0.  The hole in my jaw has gotten bigger, a crown popped off and my wisdom tooth fell out last week.  There is still an opening from mouth to sinus and a small opening in the scar from my eye removal.  Hopefully the doctor will be able to direct me to something that will close this off.  I have a feeling that I am in for some more treatments.

    Best wishes

You are off on a major journey so best wishes. Take comfort that you are heading to one of the best facilities certainly in the USA if not on planet Earth. Good luck.

So happy that Stanford will be cooperating on the insurance issues.  Here's hoping for the best possible news and the best possible outcome for you tomorrow.  You will be in my thoughts.

    Hi Teacher

Seems like we are always in the same boat together with problems, I had a big hole open in my upper palate about 5 months ago had my ENT jumping to figure out why. Will continue to remember you in my prayers

dear bev, you have a lot

dear bev, you have a lot going on and I'm sorry for that.  in the past you have always shown every problem/issue that YOU were in control and I'm sure you will do that now also.  Saying prayers that when this is all over, so are all the problems and holes.  you have been so strong, it just amazes me.  we'll be waiting to hear good news and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

    God bless you, Bev.

    Yes Tim

Sometimes I don't want to open a post for fear of yet another side effect I will have soon!  We just returned from Stanford, Looks like osteonecrosis.  Doctor did take a biopsy because my cancer presents in an unusual way.  Boy did I get scoped, by 2 doctors!  I didn't know that they had that much control of that wand.  They were able to scope up to my scar area (orbital area) and down through the fissure in my mouth.  I am waiting on an MRI, then doctor will consult with the microvascular surgeon that did my eye.  Looks like surgery is in my future.

Yes Matt, thank you for remembering our little Sofia.  We plan on being in Oregon for Christmas this year and our son and dil have a baby boy due in Southern California at the end of January.  We will be putting miles on the vehicle.

    Sorry to hear the diagnosis

osteonecrosis, not osteoradionecrosis? As OC survivors this is nearly always caused by raditation. First time I have seen it not be ORN. Curious but what is the reason how you likely have the probem if not raditation related?

Good luck. You have great doctors there.

    Correct

Don, I think that you are correct.  It is due to radiation.
